Martinez was taken to Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan following the fight and missed the post-fight press conference. An MRI revealed that Martinez suffered a broken nose, but his right knee and left hand, which had been damaged in his last fight in April of 2013, were fine, Lewkowicz said. DiBella said an additional CT Scan revealed "no abnormalities." Martinez was discharged at 5 a.m. on Sunday and traveled back home to Spain later in the day, Lewkowicz said.

it was his knee doe
watch martinez move around in his prime. bunema fight. cintron fight. first williams fight.
watch him against cotto.
was there a catastrophin failure of the knee?
no
was he on 39 year old legs, legs that were a fraction of what they used to be?
absolutely.
martinez has been looking old for a while now.
you smell that diggler?
ownaaaaaaaage.
GOD it smells so sweeeeeeeet.
:rofl::rofl:
I can't continue to reason with a spastic. It's futile. Someone who denies whats right there in front of their eyes all because they have some agenda is not someone worth continuing a discussion with.
You've been passed around and destroyed like a drunk slut at a frat party in several threads yet you still keep asking for more dick. I admire your persistent stupidity.
My brother has a bum knee due to a simple fall on ice years ago. He went to doctors, did whatever had to be done. After that he can't do what he could before. Even years later, same story. There is pain, less mobility, he doesn't have the same movements. Now if you ask him after all these years to get an MRI, the doctors will say that they don't see more damage (healed but never will be the same) than there was initially BUT that doesn't mean that he can do what he could before the injuries. Again, you don't need to be a professional doctor to realize that. All you had to do is look at the condition of his legs. They were finished and there was something definitely wrong there.
Come on, even a 10 year old can see what time it is. Martinez had surgery BEFORE the fight so you should understand what's up. Take also into consideration Martinez's age and time out of the ring and you get the version of Martinez that you saw. That was not the same Martinez that you saw get knocked down in the first round against P. Williams then get back up and knock down P. Williams and make that fight FOTY type fight.
BTW, I was pulling for Cotto and P. Williams to beat Martinez. Except for the Pacquiao fight, I always rooted for Cotto in his fights. I always rooted for P. Williams in all his fights. So while I like Martinez, as you can see, I'm no die-hard Martinez fan. Just calling it the way I see it.
news just in...........martinez actually suffered a concussion (which would explain his dizzyness and being off balance) this confirms everything that he told us..........."the truth of the matter is i got caught in the first round and never recovered. i was dizzy the entire fight" he also had a broken nose............
these are the facts and you tell me about your long lost brothers knee? WTF dude. i am looking at sergioes medical reports and his own words. (his own words actually matches with his medical reports) in fact sergio claims his legs felt good. he simply was concussed for the entire fight. (which would explain the dizzyness) open and shut case............
you guys are such morons that you didn't even realize that I was talking about his MRI. the results came back negative for any injuries in ether leg or hand. (that along with sergio saying that he had no issues with his legs) have debunked you guys into the circus conspiracy clown show...........

I had 11 knee surgeries 10 while in the marines I could tell you that he got rocked and did the chicken dance plus made his knees buckle that might of cause some discomfort but it still came from a punch
And cotto and roach said they would knock him out in 4 rounds...so what's your point
Well they almost did right? As for serg, not even close to his 9th round ko prediction.
Well my friend, some of us actually have just enough knowledge to discuss rationally certain topics that are familiar.
Also, and addressing your statement -- One doesn't need to be a Doctor to discuss medical related topics, anymore than someone has to be a Professional Boxer to discuss boxing. :chomp: :lol1:
Thank you for addressing my topic friend.
Yes, I find it comical for people to make excuses for others, when the person himself and medical doctors say he is fine.
But okay, keep on with your *****ing.:boxing:
Nothing wrong with his knee? That is why they wanted a knee brace on both of Martinez's legs ..... as you put it, because there was nothing wrong with his knee. Funny stuff.

His knees may have not gotten hurt in the fight but they where not what they used to be either those legs are shot to sh*t it was evident during the fight. Cotto was too good for that version of Martinez and unfortunately for Martinez that was the best version of Cotto we have seen in a long time so he got the piss beat out of him.
AN MRI was done (which means it checks for damaged cartilage, broken bones, torn legitimates and such) it's no such thing as being cleared for "sports related activity" anyone with the following will be automatically deemed as being un able to train, or box. (even if the MRI reveals just the slightest tear) being cleared for "sports related activity" is when you've gone through the RECOVERY process. (like after 3 months of recovery) then the doctor checks if you can resume your activities. bradley had torn legitimates and they put him in a wheel chair.............the fact of the matter is sergio had absolutely nothing wrong with his knee nore hand because the MRI would have certainly revealed it (he suffered a broken nose)

Never knew had some many Doctors posting on this site :lol1:

I don't understand why there's a he said/she said back-and-forth about Sergio's knees, simply watch some of his old fights:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnYGy9pdnEo
The proof's in the pudding, that's a completely different man. A spring in his step, a solid base to throw punches from, rapid footwork adjustments.
..it's not rocket science
These Cotto fans are making it rocket science, anything to make it a credible win.

Yeah Ok buddy. Sergio used to throw like 7 and 8 punch combination on the reg, moved all over the ring countering his opponents like it was clockwork. He couldn't even get any snap on his jab last night because he was afraid to put weight on that knee for power. You talk about him like he just started boxing or something...he only lost like 2 fights out of almost 60 fights in a period of 20 years. I know you are trolling but with an account started last week.....you need to step your game up.
I think I counted Sergio throwing one 3 punch combination the whole fight, lol. A blind man could see his knees were shot.
Have you watched Martinez fight Cotto before? NO. You watched him look amazing against Chavez's son. Cotto was simply the better fighter. The difference between a soccer player who tries his hand at boxing, and a guy who was born and bred for his sport like Cotto. It showed last night and Sergio's glorified career of fighting borderline talent, was exposed.

This supposed "better" fighter also got outboxed by none other then Austin Trout. Being born and bred in boxing all of a sudden makes you a better boxer? Chavez JR was also born into boxing and he got owned for 11 rounds. Borderline talent? lol. He was taking on the best in his division and he was even willing to go down to fight cash cows but no1 wanted to fight him including Cotto. Do you think Sergio was 100% healthy in there?
I was thinking about RJJ when I ws watching the fight, also because he was commentating. I couldn't help but draw a comparison between the two guys....seemingly on top of the world one day and a shell of themselves like the flip of a switch. It's crazy man, so hard to believe even when it's right in front of you.
Same here. His legs were probably OK physically, but they will never be 100% again and his legs and speed were the biggest part of his game. For a fighter like him, who is all about athletics and surprise, it is devastating.
Take nothing from Cotto though. he came in and made it look easy. He did what he had to do and he did it by the book.
I think what took Sergio out last night was a combination of Cotto being possessed to inflict damage combined with Martinez's own slowing reflexes.
Simply put, Martinez has been down many times his last few fights. He heavily depended on his speed and reflexes to keep him from harm. he was and still is slowing down and fighters have been catching up. The knee injuries were a result of getting knocked down awkwardly and wear and tear.
The athletic fighters suffer the most if they don't have a pure boxing foundation (think Roy Jones). Once the reflexes slow down, it is bad news from that point forward.
