As far as I can remember, Rodriguez was the the only JWW that Cotto was able to truly hurt. Forman...No! Trout..Nope! Margarito...he hit him with EVERYTHING & he still kept coming, even with a bummed eye. He couldn't even stun Floyd who weighed much less than him! Now all of the sudden, he moves up one whole weight class, finds all this new punching power and KO's the middleweight king?? Yes, I know Martinez was past it worse than we thought, but still, Marquez has been crucified labeled a cheat with no evidence at all, even though Pac walked into the perfect punch. I am NOT saying he is on anything, I am just wondering, why no scrutiny or accusations for Cotto?
I'm with you man. Look, I know Martinez looked like utter crap but I've never, ever seen coot look like that. He looked like a PR version of Mayweather last night. He hurt a man 15 pounds heavier (just guessing at the weight) with nearly every punch, didn't appear to fade at all, was pinpoint with every single shot he threw and was miles faster than I have ever seen him before. The dude looked like a machine.
The people at my house were also wondering what was up with his amazing transformation. His trainer did work with GSP and that dude doesn't exactly look like he is a stranger to roids but I'll still give them the benefit of the doubt. I'll just say that was the best version of Cotto I have ever seen and I feel that the version of Cotto from last night would and should be favored against virtually anyone from 147-160
Found a snippet from an article that was published around the time of the Delvin Rodriguez fight, when Cotto first worked with Roach and S&C coach Gavin MacMillan. If you google "Cotto's strength coach MacMillan" it's the first link that shows up.
MacMillan said he is grateful for the fact that both Provodnikov and St. Pierre have enrolled in the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) for a few reasons. The stigma in boxing, unfairly, is that strength coaches are the one who bring performance enhancing drugs to the gym. Having his fighters willingly entering into arguably the world’s most stringent drug testing protocol, is not only a ringing endorsement of his work’s cleanliness but also gives him a screening process for clients. MacMillan will not work with anyone using or looking to us PEDs.
“Well yeah, it is for a lot of reasons. Because for number one if guys are taking this stuff I won’t work with them,” said MacMillan. “Anybody that knows me knows that. I don’t want anything to do with it. There’s too many of the trainers that are in boxing or are in MMA that are pushing . I don;t know what the percentage is but its really high. And most of the aren’t testing for HGH so that goes unaccounted for. And now that they’ve legalized if your testosterone falls below a certain level they are making it legal to take it by prescription, it makes it an even tougher issue.”
The accusations of PED use are frustrating accusation for St. Pierre and MacMillan, prompting GSP to undergo testing with VADA to clear the air once and for all.
:lol1: :lol1: So good he must be cheating.
Must be.
Anybody who forces a stoppage on a bigger guy after beating the sh1t out of him for 8 or 9 rounds has to be on da roids, right?
Right?
Or is it only if they KTFO6 Pacquiao in the last coupla' years?
If Cotto was on PED's he would NOT have weighed in at 155, period. Every top fighter that gets an upset win in high fashion will be accused of PED's. Stop.

Cotto was slowing down noticeably and he does his usual posturing/ little defensive maneuvers to hide it from his opponents. It didn't look as bad as we're used to seeing because Martinez couldn't get in any kind of work to the body.
Martinez had no balance at all, so every shot that landed made him stagger around & look hurt. It'd have been the same if a 140lb'er like Mattysse/provo hit him. Cotto just looked like cotto- a great WW

100% agreed.
My only question that lend itself to this argument is why wasn't he fazed at all by a guy that outweighed him by at least 10 -15 pounds? Cotto didn't look hurt by a single Martinez shot.
Usually when Martinez is hurting guys it's because he's stepping in with his straight left, he couldn't do it against Cotto for obvious reasons.
Cotto's speed, punching power, physical strength and explosiveness were completely off the charts last night. After the first round I could hear all sorts of people around me loudly questioning whether Miguel was on PED's. I watched the fight with about thirty people from my gym. Speaking for myself I've watched Cotto very closely for ten years, every pro fight and he's never ever ever looked like that. Ever.

Because he used nothing but technique and skills last night. Same physical abilites as always, he was just fine tuned and perfectly prepared by Roach and the team.

I think you should take a look at the post fight press conference. Todd Duboef made a good point about how Freddie got Miguel's power up. It had something to do with not burning his legs out.
He lost to Trout and Mayweather because of their "STYLES", Cotto did not look bad against Trout or Mayweather, they both just out-boxed him and countered him
Martinez had a style that Depended on him being quicker than his opponent, taking nothing away form Cotto win he looked good and did what he had to do to win
If Cotto isn't on PEDs, then why does he have so many tattoos? The man is addicted to sticking needles in his body. He got tattoos all over his ass and he probably has tattoos on his ass too
No you are really showing your ignorance! You never show how ignorant you are son, never!
martinez didnt even have that good a chin in his prime, at this stage its all but shot. those other guys cotto fought havent been dropped like car keys every fight for the last couple of years.
that said the PED accusation against marquez are stupid too, he has always been a puncher and hurt manny every fight they ever had. JMM just put everything on that punch and manny ran right into it, it happens. like martinez flattening williams with one punch after hitting him with the kitchen sink for 12 rounds in their first fight.
nothing but crazy pacquiao fans looking for any excuse they can come up with.
Cotto is finally have top level training camps with world class trainer...
him being trained by his uncle and buddies from PR was not getting the job done and cotto was not maximizing his potential
