Just when I thought he was done...BOOOOM! Perfectly landed sweeping right hand!
Definitely exciting fight to start off the night. What's next for Lee, should he move back up to MW?
When did I say that Lee punch wasn't a desperation punch as well? Just comparing the two, both were desperation punches, but one was a lucky one and the other wasn't, you see lucky punches in UFC a lot when both just swing for the fences hoping something lands.
You said:
The Marquez punch was not luck it was a desperation punch but not luck because he was timing that shot over and over for years and landing it in sparring and several times on Pac. This Andy Lee punch was a true Lucky Punch.
In that context, that usually means you think the other punch in question wasn't? Maybe?
No, it was a counter right hook that clipped John Jackson, nothing lucky. Dude jumped in right into it. Just like Victor Ortiz/Collazo perfect right hook.
Stop, it was Lucky, he wasn't timing it at all he was just throwing out of desperation, just stop already man.
Marquez was timing his right hand he even dropped his spar mate with the same counter right he ko pac with, Andy Lee wasn't even expecting to KO the guy you can see it he was running away avoiding the beating and was throwing hooks so the fight didn't get stopped and bam.
Surprisingly, I think Postol deserves a honorable mention with the way he flattened Aydin.
Damn you're right! I even made a gif of that one. Definitely have a good list of KO's this year...
Froch-Groves II
Sonsona-Shimoda
Postol-Aydin
Lee-Jackson
Loreto-Joyi
how can it be a top KO if its "a true lucky punch" as you called it? makes no sense. which one is it?
it wasnt a lucky punch either btw, he was lucky jackson got so incredibly sloppy but thats about it.
A lucky punch can be a Top KO, who said they couldn't? and yes it was a lucky punch, Lee was just throwing that out of desperation, he was running back about to fold and bam threw hooks and it landed you can even see he wasn't expecting it to land he was just throwing it to keep the guy off him so the ref doesn't stop it.
The Marquez punch was not a lucky punch because he was setting it up and baiting Pacman, he wanted to time him coming in and Marquez is patient even under adversity, Lee was running all over the ring and on the ropes just throwing some shots to avoid the beating and Bam.
So the Marquez punch was a desperation punch but this wasn't........
.........scratching my head thinking............

That was bad ass. Now that is the definition of a Lucky Punch he wasn't even trying to set that **** up either he just threw a combo out while getting his ass kicked and it landed hard.

This is up there with me... Loreto over joyi and Sonsona over Shimoda were my faves so far... that lee KO was pretty good and the Froch KO over groves was as well....
Sononsa KO is still my favorite because Shimoda just collapsed.... those others are still good though

Much like Shimoda, Jackson was out for a good 20 seconds. It looked scary. Can't forget Froch either, that was a brilliant KO. All good candidates for KO of the year.
What do you guys think is this KO of the year so far or does the Marvin Sonsona KO beat this one?

Spectacular K.O. At first i was confused because of the camera angle but once i saw Jackson on the ground and the replay rolled around, i was in awe. That awkward right uppercut landed right on the button and lights out. Vicious blow had me worried about Jackson's health.
Great K.O. but not a good performance. I thought Lee would use his range to work behind the jab and set up from there but he hesitated too often. He was also very inactive at times and that wont sit well with most top 154 lbs fighters. Lee vs Trout would be a good fight IMO :boxing:
