I'm watching as everything keeps unfolding at GBP with all the fighters who are signing with Al Haymom.
Schaffer was the CEO and paid by GBP to look after the best interests of the company and it looks like he did anything but look after GBP. He looked after his own interests.
He robbed GBP of it's assets and helped siphon them elsewhere
for what I expect will be his future benefit..WOW what a crook.
He has all the ingredients to be the next Arum one Arum is dead and gone. He is bent and crooked to the core!!
schaefer cheated his friend (oscar) when he was down (on rehab). he cheated the company where he's a part owner...that alone for me makes him a bigger crook than arum.
Definitely getting them good deals. It's not just about one fight. Maidana fought Broner before that and will likely get a big fight next as well. More important, Haymon is known for taking a low cut off the deals he makes with fighters and usually takes the money upfront off-top. Compare that to other managers who basically try to rob their fighters. There's a reason so many boxers are in a rush to sign with him.
He is now for the most part, but once he starts matching up his own fighters more, and possibly has to bankroll them, whose interest is he going to be looking out for? Fighter A and B, just Fighter A, or his own bank account?
This is why so many people are screaming conflict of interest. A Manager is automatically committing it when he matches two of his own fighters against each other. One of them will suffer. If/When he becomes a promoter via proxy, he will then only be looking out for his own interest in the end. Those he is supposed to represent will not be happy.
If you look below the surface though, is he really getting a good deal for his fighters or those just on his A-Side? Maidana did not seem to get any top dollar treatment from him. Once he starts matching up more of his own signed guys against each other, he no longer has anything to care about. There is only so much money to spread around, and when/if he starts bankrolling his own cards(which he may end up having to), he will no longer be looking out for their best interest, but his own. It is all smoke and mirrors.

I fully expect to see a lot of his fighters eventually sitting on the shelf. It is great that he gets many fighters more money than their market value, but eventually the money well is going to dry up, and he will end up with a lot of spoiled fighters looking for big money, and partners/promoters/networks unwilling to dish out the money they are demanding.
The biggest crime a promoter can commit is stealing from a fighter. In that regard, Richard has a long way to go to catch up with those who came before him. It's also why I think Al Haymon doesn't deserve the hate he gets on here. Imagine that, a guy who actually gets good deals for his fighters.

And he has red bar, thats gotta be a record lmao
Rumors are that theres gonna be a lawsuit filed against Schafer. He basically sabotaged GBP to help out a competitor. This would be like if some dude at Coke sold the recipe to Dr. Pepper. This is a open and shut case.
And I read that Main Events has a lawsuit against Al Haymon
So even if they had a promoters licence (which they don't) they are gonna be too busy in court to get these guys fights.
if what the reports are saying are true and he purposefully let contracts run out then pretty sure oscar can sue him because he wasnt acting in the best interest of the company. should never trust a banker, oscar should have known

That obviously means one or two things: the first being I read (listen) more than I type (talk) and the second being YOU must have too much time on your hands (unemployed). lol Stay in your lane.:lame:
Whats wrong with you clowns? The fighters get the best deals when they are not tied to promotional contracts. Isn't that whats most important? Oscar started GOlden Boy with the intent to give the fighters the best deals possible. And now that the fighters have all the leverage, you clowns are butthurt by that. The risk is not on Golden Boy, its on the fighters, because if they don't fight and win they become has beens i.e. Ortiz and Berto. GB isn't obligated to promote a fight for a fighter that is washed up are a loser like in the past. In the past, win or lose the promoter was still obligated to get fights for a fighter per their contract.

The more I think about the whole situation - Oscar screwed himself not being present in the daily operation of his company, being socially irresponsible and publicly hurting his image and the branding of his company and by trusting his company to an investment banker who are notoriously known for cut throat practices.
As an owner of a company he should've been privy to the deals that were coming in. How many fighters are actively promoted, which fighters aren't being promoted and finding solutions as to get their name out there at the lowest possible cost at decent venues/arenas. He should've been sober from the beginning. He should've been present when contracts were being signed and should've bring the hammer down when fighters were being promoted without promotional contracts.
If anything Schaefer did what any business minded individual would do in a situation...given the ignorance and condition of the owner he operated to hedge his losses and align himself with others (potentially) that can get him a better deal.
B-Hop is in on it too, him and Dick Schafer been planning this ish all along, good thing Oscar was wise enough to do something about it, better late than too late.
He and the tranny banger are worse than Arum based on their deception alone. What they did to Oscar is appalling. Furthermore, their pen is a refuge for cowards.

You're right on my man, good insight and great thread. Oscar caught on, maybe too late, but he's partnering with his old friend and former promoter. Let the promotional battles begin.
Looks like we'll have some good GB/TR fights coming up... Manny vs Danny being the first.

Yea they keep talking about how Richard did a great job with Golden Boy but it sounds to me like he did a great job at benefiting himself and the people he planned to do future business with all along. Richard wasn't looking out for the best interest of Golden Boy Promotions, he was looking out for his best interest and most likely planned to fvck over Oscar all along.
