Im really looking forward to this fight, Roberto has been very active this year and is looking to make more noise in the welterweight division.
Prescott has fought mostly at jr welterweight but is 5'11 and has the same reach as Garcia. I think it'll be a entertaining fight that Garcia should win.
Hopefully he can land a big fight on showtime or hbo after this
154 has guys that could be easily fighting at 160 but are buying their time at 154. @ 147 theres so many options where Rob wouldnt be giving away so much size.
at 147 he could fight danny garcia is he moves up, ortiz, berto, thurman, soto karass, maidana, mathysse once he moves up, josesito lopez thats just GBP
top rank has : Abregu, Rios, Provodnikov, Bradley, Alvarado just to name a few
He seems like he has the size for 154 tho. And when fighters get older they tend to go up in weight not down.
he's not a small jr middleweight but the thing is he was making the weight so easy and theres more match ups for him at welterweight. He made 154 with 12 days notice. thats only he had 10 days to lose the weight and he still was able to perform well.
Kirklands previous fight was at catchweight of 156 against Glen Tapia. Rob was ready to accept that weight but HBO stated the weight was non negotioable.
In Robs fight in Feb he weighed in at 154 and thats cuz he took the fight on 12 days notice. That should tell you right there that he's making the weight easy and healthy.
I was pretty nervous about him going down in weight too but these past two fights showed that he shouldn't be fighting above welterweight.

he works out year round, he works as a personal trainer as well. I wanna say he walks around at 170. so thats only 23 pounds to cut which is the norm for fighters. Especially when he has adequate amount of time to cut the weight.
I think I did hear about a fight with Kirkland. Not sure that I heard all the details tho. Well, if he does get an offer I think he needs to accept it. Lets be honest here, hes getting up there in age. And Idk how much weight he's cutting but that could also be harmful at his age.

You're right but then you get screwed on the weight, $ etc.
After Robs fight in Feb he was offered a fight on HBO against James Kirkland and he was ready to ACCEPT but they were adamant on the weight limit being at 158+1. it wouldve been the co feature on HBO. But Robert isn't a middleweight, he's not even a big jr middleweight. His natural weight class is welterweight and his last fight he weighed in at 146. so giving away an extra 12-13 unnecessary pounds to benefit HBOs fighter.
I just hope he gets offers against some of the welterweights bcuz he can hang with any welterweight not named Floyd or Pacquiao

The thing is, its not hard to avoid these guys who fight on FNF or are with smaller promoters such as Warriors Boxing.
Hopefully he'll get a slot on one of the bigger networks and then that'll make it harder for them to avoid him.
He should be able to beat Prescott who hasn't looked good lately.

Kirkland is turning into a full fledged middleweight. 2 weight class difference is too much for even the great Floyd Mayweather

I hope so bro. He has a good RESPECTED promoter in Warriors boxing lead be Leon Margules and Louis Decubas Sr.
If he keeps winning impressively then those big guys aren't gonna be able to avoid him.
I just hope he gets a chance man, i don't want peoples everlasting memory of him to be against Margarito. He didnt give a good account of himself that fight but he had everything going against him in that fight and only could win by KO.
there was a period of time from 07-10 where he really didnt fight and then he landed that margarito fight so he wasnt mentally ready for the hostile environment and step up in class.
Im just trying to get people to follow him and support him, trying to build his fan base. He's a fan friendly fighter who always brings it. His promoters are doing a good job but Im doing whatever I can whether thats thru twitter, this forum, local forums, Facebook lol.
I know how politics get in the way in boxing But I hope Rob gets the recognition he deserves.

Good to hear man. Thanks for the insight. I was just curious cause no one here talks about him like you do. You didnt sound like "just another fan."
These fights can prepare him but question is, will he ever get any of them? So many politics in boxing.

Robert is my first cousin but i see him as more of a brother to be honest. He lost both his parents when he was 10 years old living in houston. Shortly after that he moved in with my family and spent many years with us.
that might give people incentive to think I'm biased in this match up but I believe in Robertos abilities and i know if given a shot he can prove his worth.
Welterweight division is stacked so it aint gonna be easy but these type of fights are gonna prep him for the top dogs. Porter, Thurman, etc.
id love to see him fight Berto, Ortiz, Abregu, Rios.
Rios is a BIG NAME but his power hasnt carried with him to 147 so thats the perfect fight to burst onto the scene
