I've heard interviews with both Froch and Groves from this morning as they left the hotel with both fighters claiming to have been well ahead before the KO.
Froch said "I beat a young fast kid at his own game for 5, 6 or 7 rounds"
while Groves said "I felt like it was all one way traffic and I was winning the rounds".
HBO's Steve Weisfeld had Groves ahead. Sky's presenters had Froch ahead and they were surprised when, during a mid-fight interview, Amir Khan said he had Groves ahead. Personally I had Froch winning by one round at the time of the KO.
Not that it matters at all because the round 8 KO was a very decisive and conclusive finish, but just out of interest who did you have ahead at the round 8 stage?
The momentum had shifted in Froch's favor with his late round body barrage in the 4th. Even though I had Groves taking that round, every round after was in Froch's favor - and even if he hadn't knocked George out, the 8th looked like it was his, too, which would've put the fight at 4-4 on my card.
Groves was ahead, but Carl had been coming on strong for several rounds; who knows late fight if George would have shown the stamina to take some of the later rounds and keep it close or not.
On a sub note, it pisses me off when a ref stops the fight before giving a count of any kind. If you noticed, the second Groves realized the ref was waving his arms he imediately jumped up to his feet and could have continued. Yes, he went down hard and didn't move much once he came to rest with his leg bent back but there is a ten count for a reason. Who knows, the kid may have been able to get himself together and recovered.
You're an idiot.
Froch reminds me of Pavlik. His punches are slow, but if he cracks you cleanly with an extended arm, you are screwed.
I think I had Groves ahead by 1 point going into the eighth round. It does not matter though, it all got erased by a great punch.
Speaking of that, Pavlik vs. Froch would be one hell of a fight if Kelley came back strong.
He was literally KOed for 2-3 seconds, then woke up, then jumped up.
That's very possible. But.....
Shouldn't he be given ten seconds to recover? After all, that's the universal rules of boxing. That just chaps my a55.
If a guy is taking punishment and doesn't go down, then yea step in and stop it but if a guy goes down, let him get a ten count to stand up and make the call after that. At least when Lennox Lewis was cold ****ed and out for a second they let him stand up and stumble before just waving it off before he stood up.

it all key how you score the two cages first and second round. I scored them to froch just because of ring generalship but i would have no problem with them going to groves.
Groves clearly got round 3 and 4, and froch clearly got rounds 5 and 6.
I score body shots very highly so i had froch winning 7 and 8 before the ko.
But again, if you prefer clean head shots then groves very much could be winning by 2 or 3.
I think this match shows how you that the word robbery is over used.
The KO was in Rd 8 Mr. Froch fan, lol
the way I scored it while watching
Round 1: 10-10 even
Round 2: Groves
Round 3: Groves
Round 4: Froch
Round 5: Froch
Round 6: Froch
Round 7: Froch
Round 8: KO.
I had Froch ahead by two. But even Froch conceded in the post-fight presser that he gave away the seventh round because of that monster left hand he got tagged with in the opening seconds so I'm inclined to say the fight was dead even prior to the knockout

I gave up scoring it live, and after rewatching it I had Froch up by a round. I think too many people were watching just George Groves.
Most boxing people sitting ringside also had Froch ahead.
Froch up 2 points.
If you gave Froch 4 rounds, he would have been up by 1 round.
If you gave Froch 5 rounds, (no possible way) he would have been up by 3 rounds.
Which was it? Or did you score a round even? Or were you just writing just for the sake of responding to the idea that Froch was winning the fight?
Froch up 2 points.
Froch clearly outsmarted Groves, but he didn't do anything for the first 4 or 5 rounds mate. How could anyone possibly have him up that high?!?

Groves 5 rounds to 2. I felt he was landing more and cleaner. Froch had his spurts but honestly not a lot would land flush, Groves even won a lot of those exchanges. But you could feel that Groves was putting himself in danger more and more and that Froch was closing in on him.
This. Groves was winning 5-2 but you could tell that Froch was on the verge of a break through at any minute from the 5th round on.
When this question is asked I immediately thought it was asking who did the judges have ahead, and I think Froch was ahead by two judges and the other saw Groves ahead, and not what peoples opinions were.
But Groves usually starts quick doesn't he, and Froch would come on late and have success later on when Groves tired.
I had Froch ahead but have no problem if anyone had Groves ahead, it was that kind of fight with maybe one punch or so separating them. It really was a case of whose work you preferred to me.
True, it was a close fight up until the KO, both guys had moments of success and moments of trouble.
