Do you think we should have this?
I believe so. On a basic level without even bringing their fight into the equation, Lets say for example a fighter like David Haye, he can't really make cruiserweight but when he fights somebody like Wlad, with both fighters in shape, he's at a huge disadvantage in size, much much much more than we would tolerate a lower weight class. That size difference is huge compared to a fight Mayweather v Marquez who are almost the same size in comparison.
I know it makes for clash of styles and some fighters have made exception to size but why are we ok with such big size differences at higher weights than lower weights? people cry over a weight class difference at lower weights but some heavyweight fights are essentially 3 or 4 weight classes apart if you consider the weight splits between each division. At the end of the day, they are still men and size makes a difference at higher weights too.
I'm not saying we should have like 7-8lbs splits at that weight too. But maybe a weight class above 230?
If we dont think a 147 pound fighter belongs in the ring with somebody 160, why should a 220 pound fighter belong in the ring with somebody 240?
Also, this might give flabby fighters like Arreola and Chambers etc..to get in shape and fight men their size.
No disrespect OP, I know where you're coming from however it's just going to make more people want to avoid each other due to weight classes and we will lose even more fights in the division than we already have. I think they could however fiddle with Cruiserweights max limit to maybe 207lbs or so which allows the likes of Adamek, Chagaev and smaller HW's n so fight in a division where we can have more fights. It's hard for a guy between 5'10-6'1 to compete with today's HW's so maybe a little less restriction on weight could allow them to be more comfortable.
Of course i know boxing and i agree with many of the points you make.
I was just asking a simple question of why such big size differences are tolerated at a higher weight than a lower weight? how many people have you seen cry over the Mayweather v Marquez fight here? and how many will cry about Martinez v Cotto should Martinez beat him when really these size differences are not that much compared to some heavyweight fights?
Maybe we should have less weight divisions instead.
I'm sure i can go through every point or debate you have made and make exceptions to everything you say and that's part of the point really, you are proving my point of wanting more fighters to prove to be an exception. I'm not actually disagreeing with what you say. If we can have Tyson fighting someone as big as Lewis, then the likes of Andre Ward should be letting someone like Chad Dawson fight at 175.
I guess i'm just very much against weight draining and more for fighters challenging themselves more. If the big guys can do it then the smaller ones should do it more.
I know fighters move up. I'm saying maybe fighters without the aid of catch weights and draining should fight. If it means one is 147 on fight night and one is 160, in their comfortable weight classes. We have these size differences in heavyweight so why not at lower weights without draining, blowing up to uncomfortable weights?
If we can do it at heavyweight, then i'd like to see more skill vs big size difference at lower weights too, i know we have exceptions like Pacquiao but maybe more of it would be interesting.
Are you new to boxing or something? Have you never seen a multiple weight champion? There's a bunch of them even today.
And if you're just calling for fighters to fight in difference of 15-20 pounds, you do realize fighters DRAIN THEMSELVES to fight at lower weight classes? Such as Pacquiao being 140 in the ring during his featherweight days?
But we saw what happened to Broner with a real welterweight didn't we? Now everyones saying he doesnt belong at the weight.
whats the difference between that and if Fury flattens Chisora because he's so much bigger, nothing will be said of it.
How did you go from
"Should we have a Super Heavyweight division"
to
"Lower weight fighters should move up then" (Fighters have been doing this for over a century)

I always respect Pacquiao for what he did. I want to see more fighters doing the same.
But we both know if Martinez flattens Cotto, everyone one here is going to say it's a size advantage that did it and saying Martinez is a b1tch for fighting someone so small. But if Tyson Fury flattens Chisora which is a much bigger size difference, it wont be as much of an issue.
I'm sure we can go through all of boxing history and pick out exceptions to every point anybody has ever put forward. Doe.
What do you mean exceptions? So Adrien Broner going thru 3 weight classes is an exception to what you deem necessary of fighters?
Marvin Hagler a bitch doe, he didnt move up weight doe.

Well then as i said, maybe in the lower weight divisions more fighters should be trying to fight bigger fighters to show skill can win fights over size. I'd like to see a lot more of it.
Rather than drain fighters, fighters should move up or let them fight at their proper weight. Even if it's 2 different weight classes, because that's what we're doing at heavyweight.
But Sugar Ray Leondard drained Donny Lalonde for a 175 belt and they fought at 168. He a drainer doe. He aint an ATG doe

but Manny Pacquiao only knows 1-2 punch doe. he just brawler doe. straight left hand all he know doe. he a flyweight doe. steroids doe

Like i said in my post, there is exceptions to it, and smaller fighters have beaten bigger fighters. I have no doubt this would happen at lower weights too if there was more fights with such big weight differences as some fighters are just clearly better fighters.
I'm just talking on a basic level about weight classes without bringing specific fights into it.
Maybe it's then a case of more lower weight fights should fight with much bigger fighters as we know size doesn't always win fight.
I'm just saying we tolerate huge size differences at heavyweight. I know they are all big strong guys but 6'7 240 pound guy against a 6'2 220 pound guy is still a hell of a size difference no matter how big they both are.
