You guys are letting your emotions get the better of you after seeing that KO. You all need to calm down and ask yourselves what happened prior to that KO.
If Chavez Jr KO'd Sergio in the 12th it wouldn't mean Chavez was better or is now a P4P fighter, it wouldn't erase the fact he got schooled for 11.5 rounds prior.
I am in no way shape or form a Froch hater, that guy his tremendously overachieved in my book and that's great for him and his family and I wish them all the best. My bills do not get paid by either fighter, I just tell it like it really is from a realest perspective not some emotional fanboy.
What Froch really is, is a P4P puncher, not boxer or fighter. His flurries were hitting nothing but Groves gloves, arms and air, Groves was countering beautifully during the flurries as if he was seeing them in slow mo.
Anyone with at least Groves's level of boxing skills and a chin that can withstand at least a few hard shots from Carl can out box him easily.
The only reason for a Ward rematch would be so Ward can earn some money, it's clear as day he'd get schooled even worse this time with 2 healthy hands from Ward.
Golovkin would simply neutralize anything Froch does and work on his body and pick him apart with a late TKO.
Kovalev, he'd punish Froch with every blow and TKO/KO him earlier than Golovkin would.
Stevenson, Carl has a legit chance of beating him, his chin isn't that great, he fights like a young Pacman, he constantly throws a sloppy jab followed by a left straight. I would favour Froch 65/35 in this match, would be more if Stevenson didn't have that power.
Groves, there is no need for another bout between the two unless their paths genuinely collide. Groves has shown he can out box, out speed, out smart Carl. He just doesn't have the chin to withstand that punch that can change a fight which is what's kept Froch going strong and most likely every time between them that punch will land on his chin and Groves would walk away with an L.
Respect to both men tonight and wish them nothing but the best.
It is the same here with every fighter, if a fighter has a good win then he is proclaimed the second coming but if he loses then he is considered to be completely garbage. Always one extreme to the other.
Similar how Pac was busting JMM up, and going for the ko, when JMM ko'ed Pac. Yet Pac haters or Floyd fans talk about how great JMM is, and how rubbish Pac is, even though Pac was winning.
Difference is Marquez's ring IQ, combinations, boxing technique are all above Froch's by far. Not only that but Marquez has always been competitive in all the Pacman fights. Only thing that surprised people was that as Marquez moved up in weight his power increased and was able to KO Manny where as before he was unable to even get Manny on the canvas not even a flash knock down.

Overating Froch? Considering many expected Groves to beat Froch ( I wasn't one of them) I would say Froch is underated. Groves dismissing Froch before the fight, and Degale saying Froch would be easy for him.
And Froch keeps winning, and he pushed Ward as well.
Froch is underrated. He's also a smarter fighter than people give him credit for.
I've always wrote here that Froch is smart -- inside and outside the ring.

......Bell end.

When I read this sort of complete nonsense I realise (not for the first time) that comments like the above are made by young men with slim wrists and an unhealthy pale complexion from spending too much time inside.
You need to step into the light, stand tall and open your heart son.
Give a Champion like Froch the credit and respect he deserves.
If you cannot appreciate his qualities as a fighter AND a boxer you are simply an idiot.
Nothing less, nothing more.
I get where you're coming from.
He has an immense chin. If Groves had the same chin (and Dirrell et al) yeah, he would have a lot more losses and look distinctly average, as their boxing skills would show him up even more.
But he's done well with what he's been given so I give him credit for that.
Ward should come and fight in the UK in front of a proper crowd. Not going to happen though. Froch has fought all over the world.
Ward only fights in his home town in front of pathetic crowds where he can get away with headbutts and elbows.
Froch Overrated = Stupid comment.
That was actually a bad froch performance tbh. He's aged a bit it seems. Still a good fighter but besides the knockout, which he's always capable of, he was in it rough against a relatively unproven fighter...again. This coming from a Froch fan. Still the second best fighter in the divisions from 160 to 175 imo.
i have been praising froch for years and considered him one of the best p4p fighters in the world. but i thought he looked pretty bad against groves last night. i dont think he is overrated as a fighter but i think its a very overrated performance which gets overlooked since it culminated with the best punch he has ever thrown.
i think there are a couple of super middleweights who would have beat him last night and the same thing applies to his last two fights before that. perhaps his age and style has begun to catch up with him. not saying he is washed up or anything but he is clearly on the decline imo.
Over-rating?
He's one of the most under-rated fighters in the sport and has been for years.
Yea for some reason people always have froch outside of their p4p top ten, He always gets over looked...
After every Froch win, a thread like this comes up, proving that he is still one of the most underrated fighters on the planet. Some people probably still don't have him on their p4p top10.
Nothing is certain in boxing. Many an odds-on champion has entered the ring with an injury, or overconfident, or about to see luck desert him. Ward respects Froch enough to know he has to train and focus far more intensely than if he were to play it safe fighting inferior boxers for easy money.
He's the absolute worst kind of fighter any undefeated champ with plans for a long and lucrative career wants to take on. The sort that give you little for free and will still be throwing KO-power bombs in the 12th despite comprehensively losing every round previous.
You've had some spot on posts regarding Froch but I disagree with this one. Froch's technical limitations make him very vulnerable to elite boxers, even a level below elite. Taylor was no elite boxer and he outboxed him, Dirrell outboxed him in my estimation, Groves in both fights seemed to be outboxing him. His hands aren't fast, his hands are very low defensively and he is somewhat predictable as he loads up the right before throwing combinations as well as shoe shines with body shots.
All this being said he is a top level fighter but for an elite boxer, I think he's fairly easy pickings despite his power.
Typical fan boy responses. I guess this disease of fanboyism isn't only confined to Mayweather and Pacman fans.
Boombayah, dear: Froch KOd "my boy" -- therefore I'm not one of his fans.
Though, the pelican-nosed guy is something you simply can't understand... Leave it like this.
