History shows that Floyd has always been a power puncher. He was knocking out fighters consistently till he jumped to 147 lbs and then 154 lbs. His power carried over but Mayweather developed hand problems fairly early in his career and this became a problem at 147 and 154 lbs where heavier, tougher and stronger opponents wear down his hands more.
This is why Floyd wears massive pillows on his hands compared to so called power punchers like maidanna who wear ufc gloves in comparison. Not only that but floyd does not have the killer instinct/spite any more because he is aware of his now fragile hands. This is why he always coasts to the UD victory unless provoked by the likes of Victor Ortiz. Floyd even dazed Cotto late in their fight and could have stopped him. I dont believe Floyd hesitated because of he cared for Cottos safety, Floyd simply does not want to risk damaging his hands even more at this late stage in his career.
Mosley who does not get along with Floyd even admitted that Floyd and Canelo punch about thesame, considering Canelo wears those mexican power puncher gloves e.g. Cleyto Reyes, it shows that if Floyd had no hand problems, he would have a lot more knockouts.
Maidana wears horse hair gloves where the adding can be broken in and distributed to the back o fthe glove... yes they weigh the same. But Maidana's force his padding away from his knuckles to make for harder punches. That's what he means by saying maidana uses basically MMA gloves.
You are trying very hard to prove something that isn't true. Mayweather is an average puncher today at welterweight. I don't give a damn what Mosley said, Floyd does not punch as hard as Canelo and common sense should tell anybody that. Mosley is just wrong about that. Canelo knocks fighters down and out on a regular basis. Floyd hasn't knocked anybody on their ass since Ortiz and Ortiz has a weak chin and didn't see the punches coming. What the hell are you talking about saying Floyd wears pillows for gloves and Maidana's gloves are like MMA gloves?????? That's impossible plain and simple. By the rules of boxing both fighters must wear gloves that are EXACTLY THE SAME WEIGHT. I know you are a big Mayweather fan so just stick to the truth. Floyd is a highly skilled boxer with fast hands and feet and a great defense and offense. He is a sharp puncher, yes. he is NOT a big puncher in the welterweight class he is now fighting in.
Floyd is no power puncher.
If he stops a guy it's by accumulation and that has always been the way. Including at 130.
He has underrated pop, and enough pop to get guys respect but by no means is he a power puncher.
Nothing else needs to be said.
He was a good puncher at the lower weights. Not 1 punch ko type of guy, but very sharp and accurate, just dismantled guys.
Not a power puncher at 147 and 154 though....

Your funny it took Floyd two sucker punches to put Ortiz down
I was just about to post about this. Pacquiao is going through the same thing as he has moved up in weight.
The guy who started this thread may come off as a fan boy but he is right about "some" of the things he wrote.
Yeah, knocking out Hernandez and Corrales by any fashion at 130 takes some power to do. Considering Hernandez was only knocked out by a much bigger prime DLH at a weight he didn't even belong in, and Corrales was only knocked out again legit at 135 against Castillo, the Casamayor stoppage was due to cuts. Jesus Chavez was knocked out in his prime only by Floyd. In Chavez vs Morales he did not get stopped in 12 rounds against a Morales that was more than capable to knock a guy out.
He was a hard puncher at 130 obviously, 27-0 with 21 KOs is a punchers ratio. But from 135+ where he started facing guys who were 145-148 on fight night, while he weighed 135-137 that's when he could not get the KO anymore. Do the math he got 21KO's at 130 and look how many more he has now than what he had at 130, only like 5 more.

He was no power puncher as a 1 punch KO kinda fighter, but he had blazing fast clean shots or combos that would put a fighter down. Plus he didn't really have hand problems, Floyd wore them Reyes gloves back then.
I wouldn't call him a power puncher, but he's got underrated power. If he stepped on the gas more, he'd have more KO's on his record (I think he could've had Guerrero out of there by the 10th, JMM in that 2nd round, and Cotto in the 12th to name a few) but he doesn't like to take chances and leave an opening in his defense.
I remember the commentary during Floyd early professional fights (prior to winning his title) where the commentators referring to him as a devastating/hard puncher.
He was fighting bums til genero, though the manfredy fight, Floyd did look like a power shot... That shot that dropped manfredy was a thing of beauty

And John Cena is the best wrestler in the world.
