Canelo is a modern day warrior who has the balls to take on any fighter. He could have been pampered and given easy fights to make alot of money and earn new fans. He could have waited and fought floyd at the end of his six fight deal but decided to do so in floyds second fight of the showtime deal. Whenever boxing fans accuse him of ducking he fights that exact fighter. Trout, floyd,Angulo and now Lara. What canelo is trying to do is what ali, tyson, sugar ray Leonard and all the other greats did. which was to fight the best and beat the best to get to the top, no matter how many times you come up short.
in all honesty, there have been plenty of fighters this era and last who've fought who we've wanted going all the way back to SRL, ODLH, Tito …. this isn't old school or him, it's boxing and canelo has most options afforded him. fair weather fans / fan boys just love complaining - it's a big thing to do in this sport.
Why the fvck would Canelo chase Lara around and crash his press conference? :lol1: Lara did chase Canelo around but at the of the day it was Canelo's fight to make.
Way to take what I said out of context. I said Lara chased Canelo, and he said I was incorrect. So I asked him how I was incorrect.
After thinking about all the circumstances, I give Canelo his due credit.
His record could have been even better by now, remember when he was scheduled to fight Paul Williams but the fight never got made due to The Punisher suffering a terrible bike accident that left him paralyzed?
Then, he was about to fight Ortiz in what could have been a hell of a fight only to have those plans spoiled by Lopez, and to Canelo's credit he was a man of his word and fought the winner.
Also, he was on his way to fight Cotto for a big money fight, only to have those plans derailed by Trout? To his credit, he went on to fight Trout which most thought he'd lose to and ended up beating him in a close fight.
After all that, he went on to fight The P4P King, no shame in losing to TBE, and went on to redeem himself by beating the living crap out of a game Angulo. He's now facing the man EVERYBODY accused him of ducking. Can't knock the kid...he is doing what Oscar De La Hoya and other ATG's did to be considered legends.
Canelo vs Kirkland was also verbally agreed on but then the very next day Kirkland backed out asking for more money at first. Then he said he can't fight because of a shoulder injury, which was from the Molina fight. Probably from all the hugging, tugging, pulling of Molina and his style.
He's the typical prizefighter that goes for the biggest name/money fight available.
Trout - Just came off of beating Cotto making the top name - fought him
Mayweather - big money - fought him
Angulo - Come back fight, first PPV as a-side
Cotto - Wanted him, was not available, fought the next available decent 'name' - Lara
Canelo is blessed to have such charisma and popularity, therefore he attracts the popular fighters.
There's nothing old school about him unless you're aware that old school fighters went for the biggest names possible.
Both Canelo and Chavez becoming champion before being ready was what annoyed me more than anything. Usually you develop first and then become champion. Canelo become champion, and then continued to to take those development fights. For two straight years he had a bunch of bull**** defenses. It's good that he's finally stepping up his game though, but it most certainly does not mean he was ducking good comp for a while there. Same for Chavez before he fought Martinez. Their handlers didn't think they were ready.
I think that was GBP choosing his opponents, I believe Canelo himself is in charge now.
I wonder how many PPV viewers he will lose if/when he loses to Lara.
I can't bring myself to like Canelo but he deserves credit for the fights he's made happen. Would be a great thing for the sport if more guys would act like him in this respect.
The real question is if i am incorrect, how come you havent told me how and why i am incorrect? thats right, because you cant.
Incorrect opinion? So lara didn't chase canelo for a fight? Did canelo fly around the country showing up to Lara's press conferences asking him for a fight?
Face it, Lara backed canelo into a corner, not the other way around.

Canelo definitely has an old school mentality. His boxing status is more important than his financial status. Back in the days it was all about the best fighting the best. And you could tell Canelo has that in him. He's made a fan outta me because of it.
The real question is why did you need to make an ALT to voice your (incorrect) opinion?

Sums it all up for me.
Can't knock Canelo.
Come on guys, let's not pretend Canelo actually wanted the Lara fight. Lara made the fight happen, not Canelo. Lara had to stalk Canelo for 2 years, call him out publically, crash his press conferences and fly around the country just to get Canelo to agree to fight. Canelo agreed to fight only because the public is calling him a coward, and his sensitive a$$ can't take it.
Canelo calls himself a world champion, and a world champion is SUPPOSED to fight the best and take on all-comers. What he's doing is what every real man should do so let's not act like it's that impressive. There are plenty of boxers who came up much harder than Canelo and fought much tougher competition, yet do not get the same recognition he gets.
That said, I'm glad he's fighting Lara and it should be a good fight. But I got Lara via schoolage.

He making up for his past suspect behavior taking on Floyd and now Lara is what everyone is saying which I agree, but still the mass hype is crazy.
For his level of hype you would think the guy cleaned up a division or something of note. Matter of fact I'll say the hype is semi justified if he can beat Lara if not then shat duh fk up, but I bet it will continue anyway, if I know hype trains at all it will be back. It will be seen more in that "wtf you talking about" way tho, and taken just as serious as the people who come on here talking about Khan is the truth again and beats Mayweather.

I hate when people say a fighter "took it slow" when they are still only at the tender age of 23.
He just turned 20 when he KO'd Baldomir.
Yes, he was a prodigy beating bums in Mexico in his teens.. But what happens when you throw a very young fighter in with the wolves when his experience isn't caught up with their potential?
You get Fernando Vargas...
And no one should wish that upon any fighter.
How is he aztec/irish?
link me to proof.
I think he means Aztec, because he's Mexican, isn't Mexico where the Aztecs lived?
And he mean's Irish by the red hair.
I'm just guessing though.
I certainly like what he's doing. Trout and Lara have both been considered high risk/low reward, but they've been fights the fans want. I applaud him. I believe he genuinely cares about his legacy and giving the fans what they want. While I admit I criticized him before, I have nothing negative to say now.
