JAMES DeGALE is banking on a Wembley win double in the next fortnight - his beloved Arsenal lifting the FA Cup and him punching his way to a huge British world title showdown.
The Harlesden boxer is certain the Gunners will fulfil the first part by beating Hull on Saturday and he aims to clinch the second by defeating Brandon Gonzales on the undercard of the Carl Froch/George Groves super-middleweight megafight.
Victory in that IBF final eliminator will guarantee DeGale meeting the winner - and potential revenge over former victor Groves - and the "die-hard Gooner" just cannot wait.

De Gale doesn't stand a chance against either. He's a lackluster B grade fighter
at best. That gold medal won't help him in the pro ranks so take your beating and cash your check.
I agree I think Froch would stop DeGale.
The way he puts himself on the ropes is suicidal. The Bika fight was mooted for James too. That would be messy.
Agree 100%.
Degale is almost tailor made for Froch to walk down.
To be honest I don't think that Degale is in the same class as Froch or Groves, he has done nothing to suggest he is a world class fighter.
His last fight was at a very small Bristol leisure centre, I just don't know how marketable he is to the wider public.
A great performance on the Froch /Groves undercar will help him, but if he does not impress I would be surprised if he gets another shot.
Yea,tbh I hope Degale wins..There is some upside for him,but he has to get the ball rolling..Degale and Groves reminds me a lil of Brook and Khan(except Khan and Brook never fought)..They bad mouth each other and have a real dislike for each other..One has moved to world class level, while the other is kind sitting around not making much noise..He has to get things going or his career(which again I feel has some upside)will go completely cold..
DeGale and Groves have genuinely hated each other since they were pretty much children.
It's a different level.
True, DeGale appears to have regressed. Gonzales fight is really make or break for him.

I scored it for Groves, can't be made at your scorecard tho..The fight was hella close and tbh could have went either way..In a rematch I would lean towards Groves beating him again tho..Groves has since moved on to fight better comp, while Degale well hell the last fight Degale had that truly meant anything he loss, hell,to Groves..

Groves got the dec. but I thought it was a draw. Would lean towards scoring it to DeGale because he pressed the action and hurt Groves twice.

Froch knocks Degale out,and Groves out points him yet again..

Lol @ needing to beat DeGale...DeGale has done nothing but lose to Groves..
The wins over Groves, Abraham, Kessler, and JT back when he was still legit...are what matter...
I know that, and you know that, but for casuals, DeGale would be another big stadium win (assuming he can get past Groves).
If he beats Groves and DeGale, it should finally sink in.

When Froch uses his jab, he is a dangerous fighter. But DeGale needs to STFU and actually fight a real opponent. He fought one real opponent, Groves and lost...
DeGale' record against legit fighters = 0-1
Froch must be feeling a little humiliated, with all these young unproven upstarts dismissing him as if he is nothing.
Froch has beaten Bute, JT and kesslers of this world, yet nobody thinks Froch is anything to shout about.
But Degale needs to start fighting and beating some names before talking about Froch.
If he beats Groves and DeGale, it should finally sink in.
It's always easy on paper, James. Froch would annihilate him, especially with the way he always rolls about on the ropes.
Froch has done OK for someone who 'has no skills'.....

Hes right froch is an easier fight. Froch makes horrible mistakes in the ring. His footwork is poor, hes slow, he keeps his left hand low I can go on all day. Degales style is a problem for anyone.
Yeah.....he shouldn't talk about the biggest fight in British boxing history which he is on the undercard to. Sure.
If Degale vs Froch was announced people would not be interested...I get what your saying, but Degale needs to get himself up there before his claims of Froch being the 'easier fight'...
Everyone thinks Froch is an easy night before they get in the ring. Only Ward has been able to say the same post fight.
I'm interested to see how degale looks inhis next fight. Injuries aren't a problem anymore, no excuses about motivation given the stage and opponent. Do or die time.
