I want to hear boxingscene's opinion on who the PFP #1 should fight in his next bout.
A lot of people will vote for the Maidana rematch, but let's be honest between gloves and referee selection, it's likely to be a similar outcome.
Poll coming up, be sure to vote.
Pacquiao (as unlikely as it is) is my number one choice.
Lara (if he wins) is also unlikely, but I would love to see it.
And if both fall through, I guess a rematch with Maidana has the most credibility for me.
I think the only realistic option is a Maidana rematch. Unless he chooses to fight the winner of Porter-Brook (which I think the winner of that will fight Thurman in Nov./Dec.). Khan is off the table because of Ramadan. Cotto-Martinez winner or winner of Canelo vs Lara, maybe?
Idk, it seems that the list is pretty narrow at the moment, but by the beginning of next year a new viable opponent will be there (winner of Porter(assuming he beats Brook) vs. Thurman).
I guess I didn't really answer the question, but I'd like for it to be Khan vs Mayweather in Sept. even though it's looking very doubtful
Since his last fight tanked miserably, you can only consider two names in there. Cotto 2 and Canelo 2 are the only ones who can give the PPV numbers Showtime would be interested in aiming at. Truth is, he can fight any small guy in the list like Garcia, Porter, for example, if he cuts a portion of his guaranteed purse.
(I'm excluding the Pacquiao fight. No point in beating a dead horse.)
it has to be sergio or manny
Mayweather will use his feet like in the ghost fight against shawn porter .....he out boxes amir khan and amir gets tired and like to hold down the stretch....thurman is not ready....he will out box maidana in a rematch......mayweather is accurate enough to beat lara....etc
As long as it not amir glass chin khan any on that list is ppv worthy. Khan is finished and its just cashing out. Hes been extremely protected since ko loss to Garcia...why isn't he motivated to avenge that loss ?? hahaa def cashing out.
While I think Maidana for sure deserves a rematch and that it would be a good fight I would like to see Mayweather fight someone else. He only got like 3? fights left on his contract and I want to see him fight some other guys. Maidanas style is pleasing but we have seen that style quite often against Mayweather, would be great to see Mayweather against a quicker guy or a great boxer.
With Maidana, Floyd will have that ref picked, gloves selection, ring size, .... everything that Maidana throws will have that ref ready and waiting to warn and deduct a point from him.
While Floyd will continue to elbow, clinch, forearm, ....... he may get a soft warning but nothing more.
Pacauiao or 2nd choice Khan. He already fought Maidana.
If he isn't fighting one of the two he might as well leave the sport alone, for it's own benefit.
Pacquiao, obviously. But realistically Maidana is the best option right now. Not giving Chino a rematch would be a bad look.
If Lara wiped Canelo then I'd be excited to see him in with Floyd. That could a fascinating fight or it could be dreadful, but I'd be willing to take that chance if Lara looks impressive.
Why do the Floydtards brag in how much Floyd makes does it really make difference to you Tards ? He doesn't give you clowns a single cent or do you clowns attend his turkey give way in November ?
While that might be true that's a pretty random post, this thread is about who he should fight next, before your post nobody even mentioned money.
Truth be told, I dont even want to see Floyd fight anyone at all. He should take the year off.
I want those young guys fighting EACH OTHER, not cashing out with Mayweather and being used as pawns.
Garcia needs to improve upon his boxing ability. Thurman needs to fight someone on the level of a Tim Bradley.
Floyd needs to kick rocks or fight Pacquiao.
If it's not Pacquiao, it needs to be Maidana rematch.
Canelo-Lara is in July, won't be enough time.
I' wouldn't mind Porter, but I'd rather see him fight Brook, then Khan, Thurman, Guerrero, etc.
Maidana rematch should happen. No one has put hands on Floyd like that since Castillo, and though I felt Castillo actually barely won their first fight, while Maidana lost a tough close fight against Floyd.....the rematch is warranted.
Same, and it wasn't close. Plus, there is a limit of 10 poll options.
I'm actually surprised anyone wants to see FMJ-Canelo II over some of the other names on the list, that's why I didn't put Lara-Canelo winner, but you just never know I guess.
I'm not one who believes the weight cost Canelo the fight, imo his gameplan and natural fighting style just isn't suited to beating FMJ.
His gameplan was definitely stupid. As was the Ghost's before him. For whatever reason both those guys elected to be kept in the center of the ring and trounced. Which was shocking to me especially in the case of the Ghost who fought the previous fight like the devil was at his backside. I certainly expected him to fight Floyd like that.
