First of all the Malik Scott fight was a disgrace and obvious fix. No debate that was bull****. Second how does beating Malik Scott even make him #1 contender. His resume is literally a joke, it reads like a who's who of fighters with bad chins.
Guys like Gary Russell Jr and Deontay Wilder both emphasize why anybody who supports Al Haymon or GBP is ****ing terrible for the sport. These hypejobs fight TBA's and glass chins until they manage to scheme their way to a title shot.
At the moment I'd say the things he's proven are a willingness to train hard, travel for fights and that he has serious power in that right hand. He still hasn't really shown that he can box, do damage with the left or fight in the later rounds.
He's a seriously interesting prospect to follow.
huh?
Who is hyping him?? It's a rarity for this place tbh but a pleasant one in that pretty much everybody here bar a very small number agree on Wilder.
And the agreement is thus...
He clearly has massive power but equally clearly is completely unproven against decent competition and is very wild.
I guess the hype im referring to is more from the media about he's the next Tyson and such, not so much NSB.
What prompted me to make this video was actually the Charlie Z video lol, I mean deontay hits him like 4 times flush and Charlie Z doesnt even get hurt at all. Even if it that was like 30% of his power youd expect somebody being named the Tyson to have an effect.
I remember reading an interview from Smitty who said when he did an in ring demonstration with Tyson, that Tyson actually broke his nose or something just by accidently tapping him too hard. Thats how heavy Tysons hands are.
Meanwhile Deontay Wilder is throwing punches at Charlie Z and not even hurting him.

Don't worry Stiverne will put an end to that as For Russell that's questionable he was a good amateur he just hasn't up his game in the pros when challenged he finds away to weasel his way out of stiff competition
you can blame his management for that. I think theyre going to ruin his career. its ridiculous they never put him in with a durable guy that wasnt too dangerous but would give him some rounds so he could gain experience and improve. you cant improve when your toppling cans within 3 rounds. now he's going to be like a lamb led to slaughter. I cant see how hes going to be able to beat a guy like stiverne if he doesnt catch him early. he just doesnt have enough later round experience. I kinda feel bad for him becuz he could have really improved his chances if he was guided along better. its not like he doesnt have any talent or athletic ability to hone
I believe he's a hype job too. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. Eventually, he will get the title shot that he wants so much. Then we'll see if it's all a dream come true for him, or his worst nightmare.
I think it's a bit early to call him a hypejob. Who would be an exceptable fight in order to determine if he is a hypejob or not? So often fans want to put a negative tag on a fighter for the fights that they have fought, but never give a fight that they view as acceptable. I personally thought Scott was going to box his ears off, but one left hook later and I had to stop doubting Wilder. The man has legit power and he's getting better every fight. What more do you want? He did get moved slowly, but he had not been ready to take a step up until now. And I think we can all agree to that.

Most Hyped fighters (keep in mind a hype job doesnt mean the fighter is bad, it means fans think they are more skilled/accomplished than reality)
Thurman
GGG
Wilder
Khan
People are so scared of Deontay's power they have to say his fights are fixed.. that's how ****ing scary this guy is looking.. could be the next Tyson.
Canelo
Took part in one of the biggest and highest grossing boxing events in history while only having one decent win on his resume, a win which he barely eeked out.
Textbook definition of a hypejob.
The Canelo hype is a little bizarre. Are Mexicans that crazy about ginger people?

lets see if he gets starched first before we call him overhyped. Im hoping he beats stiverne but I have my doubts about him. he seems clumsy when getting attacked and doesnt react well when tagged
BTW, i wonder what Golden boy or Al Haymon could've possibly offered Scott that could have re-couped him for his future financial losses of up to potentially several million if he had've gotten by Wilder and positioned himself for a title shot and a Million+ dollar showdown with Wlad.

Just to point this out, you don't have to do something first as a prerequisite for actually accomplishing something. They are just unknowns, they could be awesome or they could suck.
Some prospects need to be moved in different ways and there was no way you saw Olympic Wilder and then his early fights and thought wow this guy should be moved with haste.
And for a guy with big time power and looks the part physically (not to mention the lack of quality heavies around) Wilder gets little to no hype and receives far more criticism than he deserves.
