Lol, Tito in the avitar...Cotto in the sig.... You couldn't possibly....be ...Puerto Rican.....could you?
I think Cotto has a good chance to win this.
I think that you are some closet Margarito fan who is butthurt years down the road that all of Marg's victories are called into question due to the bricks Naazim may or may not have found prior to Mosely's beatdown of Marg.
It is what it is: believe what you want to.
You got me. Man, how did you figure this out?!?
Cotto's career above 147 has largely been smokes and mirrors. He's been matched well against shot fighters, fringe level contenders and one-legged Jews but been beaten comprehensively by the two genuinely credible fighters he fought.
Canelo walks him down and batters him into submission.
Would it be Margarito 1 bad, Pacquiao bad..? Or....do you have another example you would care to share...?

I agree with your post.
The bottom part about Canelo not being good I feel isn't true. Even if he were to lose to Lara, that wouldn't make him not good. He's one of the best young fighters in the sport today. :boxing:
Read my post again, I didn't say he wasn't good. He's definitely a good fighter, I just said 'he is not as good' as some people make him out to be. Some people said he could move up to 160 and easily dominate and badly outbox everyone there... :trink26:
And he sure as hell wouldn't KO Cotto in 5 like some here claim.
Same here!! If there is a fighter in modern era boxing who has taken on every challenge, even when he's been at a disadvantage, it's Cotto. Even at this stage he is still risking in order to make history. The Canelo fight would have made him more money IMHO so I truly respect his decision.
Prime Cotto vs Prime Canelo would have been a classic. I actually think that I'd prefer current version of Cotto in a fight with Canelo due to the experience and everything he has learned along the way. The only thing I would take away is all the punishment he was endured thru all the wars he's been in. He can be hurt easier nowadays.
Real talk, the veteran knowledge would help Cotto in a potential fire-fight with Canelo. Two guys that like two mix it up, I hope the fight gets made granted Cotto shows he's still got something left in the tank. I don't want him to turn into a shop worn punching bag.
Not as bad as what Sergio is going to do to him.
Exactly what I came here to say. I would like to see Cotto vs Canelo still after both take their upcoming L's :boxing:
A prime Cotto vs Canelo. Man that would be THE fight.
FYI Cotto is one of my favs as well.

A drained 152 pound Canelo like the one floyd fought, Cotto takes it. Without a doubt.
It would be a war though if it was made at 154. I'd still have to favor Cotto due to the experience and the fact that he has gone back to those devastating body shots that take so much out of a fighter.

I think it would be a very competitive fight, much more than people think. I think Cotto has the better jab, superior skillset, and experience. Canelo has the size and the power advantage (not by much), but his feet are slow and his defense is average. I see a close competitive fight 115-113 either way, maybe a MD decision. Cotto might dominate the rounds early but lose the late rounds with Canelo not putting in enough pressure to hurt Cotto too much (neither guy has great stamina).
Canelo is not that good, and it will show against Lara.

pretty even fight ..cotto might be shot but he still has a above average skill set...
I agree, still a tough fighter with skills and he is the 3rd Biggest draw ppv wise behind manny and Floyd. Him vs Canelo would do over a million buys. Especially if Cotto somehow beats Martinez. Mega fight. Canelo is a young beast in his prime, he doesn't get enough credit but that kid is for real. He would box and move, throw the jab and explode with combos. Cottos experience and skill will keep him competitive but I think eventually Canelo would take over the fight and win.
