The Sanchez fight.
Pac v Sanchez didn't happen at featherweight, it was at superbantam, a weight at which Pac destroyed Ladwaba. At feather, Pac would go onto dominate the likes of Barrera. Come on bro, please know boxing.
That's a good point.. But if it's prime vs prime, manny was a lot better a few years later at dealing with that.. I think manny from 06-12 has a much easier time with Sanchez, which I believe was a draw, and manny quit because of a cut and roughhouse tactics of sanchez
Manny never really got rough housed outside of 135 lbs though and Manny was primed around 130-126
Are you sure? there were a lot more variety in styles back then, it's very likely Armstrong had seen all of what pacquiao had to offer especially considering how often he fought.
Let's not forgot a prime pacquiao lost to morales, so let's not hold his or armstrongs losses against them.
Also just as Armstrong may struggle to keep up with the nutritional and training advances of today, pacquiao may struggle with the frequency of fights and their length in armstrongs era. However considering pacquiaos character and background I think he would adapt better than most modern fighters if he were sent back in time.
Not talking about styles,, just that manny's combination of handspeed, power, activity, and foot speed... Not many fighters in the history of the sport combined those traits. And Armstrong never faded something like that, few have
Pacquiao struggled badly with the rough housing of Sanchez. Seriously, Hank would probably put Manny to sleep

Actually, Armstrong was only a 2 weight champ t this stage as he moved down to win the LW strap after the Ross fight.
What makes you say that? Manny was phenomenol at that weight, people tend to forget how ferocious and fast he was there.
The Sanchez fight.
I was just countering the notion that older fighters would struggle with the modern conditioned athlete. I think a lot of modern athletes would also struggle with the toughness and frequency under which fights were made pre-war.
Swings and roundabouts IMO.
They fought more frequently back then but did not spar a lot.
Armstrong and Pacquiao are both very well conditioned it doesn't matter what era they were in.
Armstrong was at the top of the tree in his era just like Pacquiao is for his (especially in his prime)
The fight is when both of them at their bests. whenever that may be.
Not what they could have been in different circumstance.
Modern gloves and 15 rounds.

That's if they were competing in the modern era. In a fantasy fight we could just as easily have them fight in the pre-war era where modern athletes would struggle just as much.

This is when the man moved up 2 weight classes to be the only man to hold 3 titles in 3 different weight classes at the same time. This is at welterweight when he was holding the featherweight title.

At 126 Armstrong bulldozes him.

modern athletes (1980s-up) >>>> old school athletes (1970s-down).
scientific fact.

That video supposed to make him look bad?
You failed.

A very slow Marquez can cause many problems with Manny. Armstrong would without a doubt cause problems.
The lack of respect and trust in the greats of the past is either lack of knowledge, respect, bias or straight fan boy stupidty.
The fact you put up the first fight you find on YouTube is obvious to your knowledge.

i mean come on.Well Manny did lose to 2 cab drivers and has been floored by lesser fighters so lets not get carried away
Advancements in nutrition and training methods, need to be taken into account
Then their is no point of this discussion, the whole point of fantasy match up's is to see the out comes of fighters in their prime in their ERA'S.
With that being said Pacquaio would wear down Armstrong tko in the 11 for Pac. Come forward fighters are Pac's bread and butter.

Ross is a better fighter than anyone Manny has beaten or even in an arena with.
Back to topic, I do believe pacquaio could keep up with Armstrong work rate but his defensively low style and wide punchs I believe would pose many problems for Manny.
Manny could win by playing smart and realizing his speed and work smart/work on the outside.
Pacquiao has been down and out to lesser competition but a smart Manny can bang with the best. If he plays smart it could be close but if he were to over pressure Armstrong, I could easily see pac on the ground!!!
