“@stevemaxboxing: Word Im getting is that Maidana got a significant 6-figures to wear the gloves he did on Sat night..... #boxing #theMoment”
Can anyone confirm this?
So it was Maidans choice to wear them
Why was he complaining like a ***** after taking money ?
If he wanted to wear them that bad he shouldn't have taken the money
Maidana only has himself to blame
That's 100% true, just like guys agreeing to catch weights but if he got paid not to wear the other gloves that's more than just a head game by Mayweather because hes the A-side, that's Mayweather saying " I don't want you to hit me with those gloves on and im willing to pay to avoid it", that's not a good look for a boxer.
I didnt know this?
Does anyone know if it also was..... after the contract was signed??
On another note: How do y'all feel about bradley and marquez signing contracts to do strict testing by VADA, but marquez not respecting his contract. This could have been dangerous also, or not? Two wrongs dont make a right, but i geuss A-sides dont always respect contracts even after they have signed them...
it was on the contract. a choice of 8 oz gloves. margarito was the puncher( just like maidana) pacquiao was the boxer( just like mayweather). the difference is pacquiao wanted harder gloves- while floyd preferred softer foam gloves. as mayweather said in the post fight maidana- mayweather conference its an health issue or something about family or about maidana's baby issue- that he didn't allowed maidana those harder everlast mx.
Garcia's Team and Maidana being exposed.
Cut the cry outloud about the glove chit! :bottle:
He had a choice and chose the money way. Now, can we just stop with the box crap.
Exposed??
Not sure how that's being exposed, good for them they deserved some sort of money for the bs stunt Money team pulled, it just showed Money team exposing themselves.
It's funny you brought that up. When Pacquaio was fighting Margarito, the fight really was supposed to use 10 oz gloves. But Pacquaio demanded that they use 8 oz gloves. And now today, Margarito only has one eye, his other eye is f*cked up and he's forced to retire because of it.
Now if they were using 10 oz gloves, Margarito might still have a career today. Or maybe not. Who knows, cause he was eating too many shots anyway. But it's a better possibility his eye wouldn't had gotten broken because the 10 oz gloves cause less damage. :nonono:

margarito is the bigger man, harder puncher. he's supposed to have an advantage on 8 oz gloves. margarito also knows this- the gloves choice didn't become controversial. maidana is complaining post fight about the gloves- thus it become an issue.

I don't think Maidana had much choice in the matter like some are saying in some kind of voluntary damage control they're doing for TMT. The only person looking bad in glovegate is Floyd. I've never seen the widely considred P4P#1 threaten to pull out of a fight unless his opponent wears padded gloves.
Does anyone realise how much of a joke that makes the sport look? Floyd has always been a clown but I respect him as a highly skilled professional, that respect is dwindling. After putting his opponent at a disadvantage, he still struggles in the fight and in an act of desperately trying to avoid the questions about glovegate during the post fight presser, totally discredits his opponents performance to the point of talking **** about him and mentioning easier fights he's had in the past as being 'tougher.'
Floyd is a joke and the sport of boxing will be better off once he's gone.

who's the girl?
Well then it's his fault for taking pay-off money then whining about not being able to use the gloves he wanted. They weren't gonna cancel the fight over the red pair of gloves that had been approved.
there's a reason punchers prefer horse hair gloves. it may not help boxers attain greater accuracy- but it hurts more when it lands. in pacquiaos hand it cut flesh more than foam gloves. there's a reason they dont allow horse hair gloves in sparring.

I do not give a fucc that he had to to change gloves. Team Mayweather did not trust his glove choice. And from how dirty Maidana fought can you blame team Mayweather? Honestly?
Dude even had a pair banned by NSAC.
excuses....such lame excuses.
Even playing field right, didn't even allow the red mx gloves.
Keep the excuses coming.
Your boy won, leave it at that. He got the W over a 14-1 underdog wearing pillows.
Pop quiz: Would these magical gloves help him land or nah

that's because you're a f#ggot :lol1:
if floyd mayweather's glove of choice was tossed out, and he broke his hands, you'd be crying like one of his groupies.
Way to dance around my post dicc head.
He's always had bad hands. He uses special Grant gloves just because of that and still hurts his hands. So it's not a lie and shouldn't be a surprise. It's been like that for years.
Thanks for the info, i knew he had problems with his hands, i guess i wanted to know, if this time the claim he hurt his hands again was an accuse for a lesser performance(in the eyes of the majority)than normal. I believe styles make fights and this current maidana can pose a problem to a lot of fighters. especially the fighters that dont have elite movement and good defense.
@ radioraheem
Do you know the tall black journalist who always asks the tough questions and was also there with Roach vs Ariza? I consider him one of the real dudes out there with a camera and quite neutral, eventhough it is said he has some beef with FMJ.
I'm surprised he wasnt on top of this glovegate ish, seriously he comes across as one of the better ones out there who dares to ask the hard questions etc. Kugan casius and Seckback also put in work, but Kugan tries to be friends with everyone and Seckback is too much buddies with Garcia's camp that he cant be 100% unbiased IMO.
Ask the dude if he is willing to bring some conclusion to glovegates if possible. because now everyone is specutlating for atleast 30% on the subject. IMO the media dropped the ball on this one. Im not saying i would do better if i was there, but glovegates needs some conclusion to it PLEASE!!!
thx in advance and keep up the good work!!! :)
(5 minutes in is that dude.)

completely discounting the fact that mayweather cried until they changed the gloves is a sign of fanboyism.
was it the only deciding factor in the fight? no.
did it happen? yes. mayweather complained until maidana had to change from a puncher's glove that was in the contract, to a pillow of a glove that he'd never even used.

What a retarded tweet.
Why would Floyd pay Maidana to wear gloves when the commission refused those gloves?
Also why would Maidana complain about gloves if he has been paid that much?
the commission approved the MX everlast gloves, the way they always do. they are worn all the time in las vegas.

the people to talk to about this would be the athletic comission. you don't hear much form them, because haymon, gbp, and floyd mayweather own las vegas.
they put the commissioners' kids through college. you won't hear a peep from the commission.
