I remember when "Margarito didn't have the skill. He was just a crude face 1st brawler".
If El Chino was bigger, had a chin of iron and 15 round stamina, he'd be called Margarito and Floyd wouldn't have fought him.
And on a side note, if El Chino can give Floyd that much trouble, Porter and Thurman could probably beat him. Expect neither guy to get a shot at Floyd.

Chino lost and Margarito used plaster. Maidana would beat Margaritos ass if Margs couldn't use plaster.
not a floyd fan but i dont think tony and chino fights the same. chino was quicker, more mobile, uses a lot of feints and had more head movement. tony's advantage is his chin, stamina and size. he'd get pounded by floyd's counters but thing is, he wont stop and floyd would have a hard time tying him up like chino because of tony's size. and this is what floyd fears i think.
Maidana is much more skilled than Marg. He's quicker and has a tighter defense so I wouldn't compare them. Still even a prime Floyd would have a hell of a hard time keeping Marg off of him. It would have been interesting to watch.
Maidana does a few things better than Tony though. Marg has the better stamina, power & chin. But Maidana is not as slow, has a better jab, head movement and has an unorthodox stance & rhythm that's hard for a counter puncher to time. I think Maidana's style matches up better with Floyd's than Tony's.
And let us not forget that Tony made Josh Clottey look like a prime Sweet Pea in the 1st few rounds of their fight before Clottey broke his hand.
But i think it's fair to assume that prime Marg would at the very least give a 37 year old Floyd a competitive fight. But Margarito from his last fight would get trounced in lopsided fashion by the version of Floyd from his last fight.
Floyd chose to go after De La Hoya instead of a Margarito fight. It was the better move all the way around.
Do you have boxing Alzheimer's? You seem to forget certain fights like Judah and Baldomir. Or Casamayor for Bradley and Forfrana for Stevenson. It's like you zone out when those fights occur.
That was Margarito's specialty. Taking 2 to give 1. And he had power, stamina, reach. That was exactly going to be Margaritos plan, although I see Marg as a cleaner fighter than Maidana. Some of the punches Marcos threw were straight hammer fists. But Marg was a mauler and thats what he would have done to Floyd. It would have been a troubling fight for Floyd, no doubt.
Aside from that, I still had Floyd winning the fight against Maidana. By a couple rounds only. Mostly, Floyd looked a lil old. Didnt look himself until round 6. I picked Floyd to win but also said in a few threads I wouldnt be surprised if Marcos won or had success. Floyd 37 now and been in nothing but grueling fights the last few years. Age catching up to him - as it does most 37 year old boxers. It happens and it shouldn't suprise anyone.
Props to Maidna for the fight he brought but - Devils Advocate - How do you think Maidana will perform at 37? I still think Floyd deserves props for dealing with Marcos the Bull at his age.
Margarito being a clean fighter LOL

Margarito in his prime was a beast. I still laugh to this day the way he punked Floyd in person. However, he doesn't fight with the dirty tactics in the ring like Maidana fought Floyd. Floyd would just pitty pat run his way to victory. But who knows, it is a fantasy fight after all. If Douglas vs Tyson were to of never happened and someone in this day were to pic Douglas, he'd most likely be called a retard.
The margarito/paul williams myth....
Of course you compare the prime versions of those fighters to a 37 year old floyd preformance. The fact is they both would follow him around eating counters all night. Maidana had success because of his wild style, margs and pwill are far more predictable. I feel embarrassed for all of the people claiming floyd lost. It makes you seem so desperate.
Mayweather knew, as early as 2005, that Margarito was a dirty fighter, which is why he rejected that fight and went on to accept a good three million less to fight the totally relevant, totally not shot-to-sh*t Sharmba Mitchell.
To be fair in a fantasy fight we know he would have stopped marg; its tough to predict how he would have done against mitchell and ndou lol.
After the chino fight, i think the myth of floyd being undefeated in fantasy land should be laid to rest. He would have stopped maidana on paper as well. Who knows how he would have done against prime pacquiao, margarito, cotto and clottey; those are the fighters i believe he should be judged alongside with in his welterweight run.
I sure wished Chino threw more of the looping over hand right late into the fight but he may have had to adjust a bit to land that same shot. Its a shot Margarito used to have before he went with Garcia as trainer, that was a shot that most fighters used to say that they couldn't see where the shot was coming from. Marg had some advantages against Floyd, truth is Floyd just didn't want to have so much pressure on him applied by a fighter like Margarito, Marg would have ran right through Floyds shots and team Floyd knew this.

.then as soon as he beat you other suppose it boogyman Trout
I'm not really one to pick on poster's grammar, but there are some gems that shouldn't be left out.
Larry, for future reference, this sentence should have been written, "then as soon as he beat your supposed boogyman Trout.."
Floyd deserved every bit of dirtiness he received in the fight. He acted like a scorned high school girl on the rag last week. Besides, everybody knew Chino wasn't going to outbox him but Chino didn't let Floyd get away with all the dirty stuff he likes to pull in the ring.
I'm just curious how any Floyd fan can look at the way Floyd behaved last week and not feel some embarrassment.
Floyd deserved the rough housing. He was throwing elbows and wrenching on Chinos arm Tyson style. Chino was mentally strong and this seems to bother Floyd. Everyone usually becomes complaisant against Floyd by the 5th round.
Chino just kept chopping and chopping and labored through fatigue.....
You can tell Floyd was shook, he expected chino to slow down which he did a little but more importantly he thought chino was going to be gun shy in the later round. That never happened.
