After see in the Maidana fight, it made me think, this is exactly how Tony Margarito would have fought Mayweather. The glaring differences between Maidana and Margarito are their respective sizes. Maidana came up from 140. Margarito had longer reach and was a solid WW for his career.
Mayweathers fan base get very bothered by the Margarito talk, but we saw last nite an example of a guy who is gonna keep coming and is willing to commit to the body and throw over 100 punches per round. Maidana's only flaw last nit was his size.
This is the same question I keep asking.
The Margarito situation was in 2006, that's 8 years ago.
Floyd was in his 20's. Floyd is a few years shy of 40 now. Slight difference.
I would love to know what the average IQ of this board is.
Exactly. Not to mention Maidana and Margs are brawlers which is probably the only thing they have in common. Maidana is faster then Margs, Maidana throws punches both from weird angles and he also has a way of sneaking his hooks in when you swear he's throwing a jab. Margs does none of that, he throws textbook punches from a brawlers type stance.
i think it would be another close fight, possibly capable of going either way
floyd can win 2-3 rd's running before he needs a break and lays on the ropes for 3 rounds, then another 2rd's of running
margarito was tall, he could possibly get over floyds shoulder on occassion, and i think the pressure he'd put on floyd would be alot more consistent than the pressure from maidana, floyd's shots would also look very unimpressive vs margarito who would be very big and strong and floyd would likely be throwing some potshots as he's turning
would be a tough fight
Any version. Floyd could have easily fought him, but opted not to. He chose the feather fisted Baldomir instead.
Well according to Arum Floyd was willing to fight him.

I have been saying this for years. Margarito was steem rolling everyone in the division and everyone feared him. He went to Floyd and said let's fight and Floyd of course said its going to happen and of course of it didn't. That was one of the biggest ducks in boxing history. Margarito would take 3 shots just to get one. Floyd refuses to fight guys like that.

Is Mayweather 37 in this scenario or seven years younger?

Call me crazy but I think the Mayorga that fought Forrest could give Floyd more problems than a prime Margarito/Williams.
The Mayorga that was hungry against Forrest, without a doubt. Punches from every angle. Theres a reason why floyd has mostly fought guys who will just try to outbox him. He can't stand to be hunted. Its easier to just outbox the guy who "was impressive in his last fight", rather than the hunter who goes for the kill at all times.
no need to revisit anything the guy is a confirmed cheater who loaded his gloves but yall dont care cause hes one of those face first brawlers who got the corona boys hooked, plain and simple even with plaster he gets his face boxed off by floyd easy work
since i know ur a racist bro, what about paul williams vs floyd?
given his performances against a smaller JLC and maidana, p will UD's floyd.

when you throw more than one punch at Floyd he goes in a shell and he waits until it is safe before he counters. Sometimes he hits you as you come in to discourage you from getting off first but when he faces guys who are offensive minded and don't mind taking one to land one that where it gets complicated for mayweather because of his defensive mentality.
His natural instinct when someone flurries at him is to cover up and roll his shoulders. He rarely ever trades. He picks his shots and again it's to discourage a guy from coming in and then when fighters get tentative that's when Floyd beats them one punch at a time with his potshots.
You saw it multiple times against de la hoya, against zab Judah when zab got off first. But the thing is those two didn't have the right mindset of an offensive fighter and were easily discouraged after getting hit a few times.
Great post. Thats the blueprint. Hence, no Margarito, Williams, Pacquaio fights. All of those guys would be continuously hitting him and not taking their feet off the gas. The Amir Khan that fought last nite was impressive and may provide significant difficulties for Floyd.
i always believed that volume punchers like williams, margarito and pac would give floyd fits. last night only reaffirmed this belief.

The women's support group are going to have to get ready for a long year. The 'Margarito whoops Floyd' argument just got a whole new lease of life last night :lol1:
:lol1: Floyd/Cotto hardcores.

They get bothered by the countless names he never fought. Williams,Margarito,Pacquaio, all could have beat or went punch for punch with Floyd. He's a carefully crafted illusion of an unbeatable fighter.
