Mayweather/maidana glove complication

its all just to generate controversy to hopefully add to ppv buys. as mentioned, this fight needs to generate 1.5 milion ppv buys to break even. even on cinco de mayo weekend with a stacked undercard, i dont think this does 1.5 million. Given the circumstances though (stacked undercard + cinco de mayo), anything under 1.2 milion is a flop. yea but what does gloves have anything to do with someone either buying the ppv or not? only the true "boxing public" knows about the glove thing, why would that impact the ppv buys? One thing about Floyd and Broner. People pay to see them win, BUT MORE PEOPLE PAY TO SEE THEM LOOSE. I think ppv will do good. 4 great fights. Maidana is at his peak and you never know what can happen boxing.

IMO it was all to sell this fight; but I find it ridiculous that Leonard still had a problem with the gloves that NSAC approved, the red Everlast. Edit: TEAM CORNFLAKE :boxing: And that's the thing I don't like. Commission approved the red pair, contract state that Maidana can use any approved glove. End of story.

I think it's just an attempt to get Maidana into Grant gloves and get him off of his game mentally. Their tactics lead eager fans into thinking that they know 150% that a guy is trying to cheat when in fact, there is no proof at all. They need to be careful that they don't get sued for defamation of character. How do you feel about them demanding another boxer not wear gloves that have been approved for use by the governing commission? I would feel the same ONLY IF Nevada Commission didn't agree with Mayweather and didn't tell Maidana's team those Blue MX gloves are unacceptable. They didn't "not approve" a already approved glove, they just won't allow Maidana to use those Blue MX because of lack of padding. Now if Nevada took Floyd's side and said Maidana could only uses Grants, like Floyd, I would say there's a lawsuit coming because of what was in contract stating Maidana can use any approved gloves he wants.

Floyd has just become fixated on Maidana's gloves, and like a spoilt child he refuses to let it go.

People are hating on FMJ hard lol...from the few minutes I spent watching the video of the incident (I stopped watching because regardless the fight is gong to go on so I don't care) all he asked for was the same gloves. As a boxer I can tell you...8oz is 8oz. Yeah brands are different but with Grant, Reyes, Everlast MX, those are punchers gloves. They all have snap to them. I saw the gloves Maidana had (the light blue ones) and I honestly thought they did look funny but I cant say because I didnt have them on. Its not like they are going to fight in Winning so the gloves dont matter. Even with Winning 8oz you can KO a guy. Anyways I cant wait for the fight. After the fight, I got to get on Youtube and talk a little smack to all the people who believed the hype.

As a fighter, I want to have as much safety as possible. for me and my opponent. So with Floyd not being comfortable with those Blue Everlast MX gloves, I can agree because at the end of the day, Maidana already hits like a Mull. So with very little padding it will be crazy. So I agree with Floyd saying no to those blue MX gloves BUT HERE'S WHAT I DONT LIKE: In the contract, it stated that each fighter can wear whatever brand/type glove they wanted that is approved by commission. Turns out those original blue MX glove that Maidana wanted to use, was NOT APPROVED by commission. The Everlast MX has been used in Nevada hundreds of times AND HAS BEEN USED AGAINST FLOYD in Cotto fight. Everlast MX is Maidana's glove just like Grant is Floyds. Mayweather was insisting that Maidana can't wear Everlast MX AT ALL because of the way the glove is made (with horse hair) >> I THINK THAT'S BULL ****. Maidana was giving another RED pair of MX that was approved by Nevada commission ( must of been more padded - idk? ) I understand Floyd is the boss but he can't call all the shots. If a certain brand/style pair of gloves is approved by commission, and contract states they can use any approved kind, than there's no argument. If a boxer is not comfortable with his opponents gloves and commission agrees, that's ok with me. When Floyd says no you can't wear MX, you wear grant like me, that's a super **** NO. Boxing fans, Do you think the complication with Team Maidana's gloves was a set up? Do you agree with Mayweather's team with threating to pull out of the fight!? Give me your feed back. I like Floyd, I think he's an amazing boxer. One of the best to ever lace them up, BUT, he's acting like a coward, a vagina, a hypocrite, and just flat out losing the few fans he has left. Boxers are allowed a variety of gloves because some boxers have very strong hands and fists while others have brittle hands and they require more protection than others. Floyd knows maidana has KO power and that maidanas hands are stronger than his hands, he,his team, and the whole world know that, but yet they want to CREATE and issue where there shouldn't be one just to be difficult. Ellerbe and Floyd are seriously looking like lovers rightnow.
