And as we know, Pacquiao-Alvarez was discussed between Arum and DLH.
"As the years pass, there will be others, for example, who wouldn't want to see him in against Miguel Cotto again if Miguel Cotto is successful against Martinez," said Arum of Cotto, who is now being trained by Pacquiao's longtime cornerman, Freddie Roach.
"Indeed, who wouldn't want to see Pacquiao against Martinez if Martinez is successful, and can come down in weight a little bit. Pacquiao might even decide to fight Martinez or even Canelo Alvarez."

Naturally, DiBella is on board:

I wonder what weight it would be at. 154 makes sense, both meet in the middle. I was rooting for Cotto against Sergio, but with the prospect of a pointless Pac-Cotto rematch, not so sure now...
But Pacquiao-Martinez and Pacquiao-Canelo sound a whole lot more appealing than Pac-JMM 506 or Pac-Alvarado.
Looks like Pac might be going solo after his contract runs out. Uncle Bob's ready to cash him out against Sergio if he wins:
But Top Rank CEO Arum has confirmed his biggest star's next opponent will be revealed after Cotto and Martinez's WBC middleweight bout in New York's Madison Square Garden in June, providing the victor accepts the challenge.
"Yeah, Manny has agreed to fight the winner (of Cotto v Martinez)," Arum said via ES News. "I haven't talked to either of these fighters whether if they won they would want to fight Manny, but I'll do that after the fight. I'll only have to talk to one guy, not two."

Of course this only happens if Marquez wins and still insists on not fighting Pac again.
I can't see it happening though I would love to see it but
f*ck it go all out and take him on at like a 156 catchweight for the middleweight crown (sort of) yeah he'll lose but hell it would show some balls even at a catchweight which yeah I admit I normally despise but when we're talking about a guy who is coming up soo much weight...
pac would have virtually no chance and it would be seen as such ... but a guy with no chance somehow pulling it out is what true all time greatness is about. Since he won't get the floyd fight something like this would be the one way to pretty much secure himself as undisputably the greatest of the generation if he somehow won ... which yeah he wouldn't lol.
but sad to say pac said margarito was his last fight above 147
his mind might change though and do more for his secured legacy
That was then, when Pac has plenty of options at 147... now a days? he has nothing and the illusion of losing to bigger men at WW has diminished.
Time to rekindle it with Canelo and Martinez fights.
Sergio has already said he's too big for Pac, but he'd drain himself when he see's that $.
But if Cotto were to somehow take that belt.....would Manny go for the lineal middleweight title against him?
I hope Manny won't be fooled by accepting the fight against Martinez or Canelo. He is no longer the prime Manny 2 years ago. Even if he's still in his prime, it's the fight that he can't win. He is too small against MW. To the poster that said Manny got KOd by a bloated 140 Marquez, you must be joking right? Marquez looked like one of them line backers that night, be real dude.
This fight does nothing for Sergio MArtinez legacy, nothing at all, fighting a tiny ass dude which he is supposed to knockout who already got knocked out cold by jmm does nothing for him, its an embarrassment.
I can see Floyd vs. Sergio because Floyd is longer than Pacman and has superior defense so it won't be that far fetched but Pacman got some T rex arms man, he has to leap in just to reach you. Floyd looks huge compared to Manny, every boxing trainer says Floyd is too big for Manny that is why the favor Floyd easy, so imagine Sergio vs. Manny? Pac would be KO from the first jab it shouldn't even be sanctioned, its a real mismatch.
Pac already said Margarito tortured his body and had him cramped up for days where he could barely move out of bed. and said he will never go up again, but you never know, Pacman owes tax money so he might actually go up to 155 catchweight or something.
why do you guys wanna see pac fight a MW? wtf? so what if thats where the money is? pac has a wife and 5 kids, the 5th is a newborn, hes also a congressman who is aiming to be the president (God forbid) of the philippines.
why the hell would he take such a health risk? whats the point of making money if u become a vegetable after a few years?
i want him to fight broner and garcia.
ur actually a true boxing fan
most fan would be afraid of their fighter facing big guys and then say "he does not have to go up and fight, his good where he is"
health first type of fans
but sad to say pac said margarito was his last fight above 147

Pacquiao really has no business fighting above 147 though. When you think about it he's only made the 147 pound limit twice the whole time he's campaigned there. The main reason he went there was because that's where big money fighters were.
His best weight is 140 and there are some intriguing fights to be had now (Garcia, Prov, Lucas, and even Broner's sorry ass just for comedic purpose). I don't think it would necessarily bring him the type of money he'd get by fighting the bigger guys though.
It wouldnt even be a challenge.
Pac got ko by a bloated 140 Juan Marquez. And he's suppose to fight the lineal MW champ of the world?
If any bit of prime Martinez is left, Pac goes to sleep within 3-4 rounds.
And its not a diss to him
Remember a good big man always beats a good little man.
It would be a challenge for Pacquiao, not so much for Martinez given the size disparity.
For the amount of money he'd be looking at I think Sergio would definitely be willing to go to 154. I don't think that's where the fight will be though if it does happen. It would most likely be between 150-152. I think the size difference coupled with Sergio's skill set would be a little too much for Pacquiao. He's really just a JrWW that would be trying to bang with the MW champ.
Sergio and Canelo are both too big for Pacquiao in my opinion but that's where the money is at. There is no one at 140 (if he decides to move down) that would bring in the type of money those two would bring for Pacquiao.
At least he would be challenging himself. Pac-Sergio at 154-156 (assuming he could still make that weight) would be worthy of fans PPV dollars and not some glorified $75 sparring match.
Pacquiao going into a fight where he will inevitably get knocked out isn't anything worth paying for.
Which is why there would be intrigue. Huge Manny fan but if you told me that I had a choice of seeing recycled Pac-Cotto II or Pac-JMM 97 and Manny was guaranteed a victory or seeing Pac-Martinez with Pac potentially going to sleep in 3, I'd take the latter option.
It'd be like Duran-Hearns. No nuts, no glory. Can't always take the easy way out.

i would love to see him try
but i doubt
hed get as close as top 20 atg if he does or maybe 15
pac will lose 150 and up to any top fighter in that weight
