I was just watching a highlight real of Maidana's fights and noticed that in the Morales fight Chino threw 985 punches but only landed 195 counting for only a 20% landed punch ratio. I believe Chino has a chance of pulling off the upset against Mayweather but if an over the hill Erik Morales can make you miss 80% of your shots what is the best defender in the sport going to do to you?
I think Robert Garcia was right when he said Chino is going to have to throw north of a 1000 punches in order to have any chance of defeating Floyd.
Maidana was relying heavily on his punching power before he hook up with Garcia. He's stamina was very bad as well, after hooking up with Ariza his stamina improves a little bit. You can say he was starting to get winded during his fight with Broner but still able to KD Broner on the 8th where he normally starting to get gassed out. All those power punches he threw no matter if they landed or not that'll take a lot off energy from a fighter but he finished the fight still strong.
Against Mayweather, he have to put pedal to the metal all throughout the fight. His jab is underrated but that's how he was able to land his power punches. When he jabs, he better triple that ish and shoot his right down the middle, that's the biggest target on Floyds defense. None of those left and right crosses that he can roll his shoulders or block em with his paws. Just land those punches to Floyds elbows arms, and concentrate on the body shot as well. Is he gonna win by decision? Hell no! The only chance he have is to hurt Floyd and able to finish him off, but I don't see it happening. 11-1 so far.
That was before Garcia and Ariza doe
Rios agrees with you ..... it helped him a lot when he fought Manny Pacquiao :lol1:

This.
Yeah but Morales was pretty shot IMO.
Morales is an ATG and legend, him giving a fighter some problems isn't anything to be ashamed of.

Maidana can land many shots on you and not ko you so he wont likely beat Floyd is the general consensus.
He hits quite hard (there are harder hitters out there) but more accurate is he tries to ko you, whilst Floyd is total opposite of the spectrum with if the ko comes i'll take it type attitude.
That version of Maidana was not 100 disciplined.I remember when in 2010 , he got some critics in Argentina after the fight with Corley. It was very lazy in that fight.
I´m not saying that Maidana is now a superstar, but he has improved a lot since the last years, with garcia and ariza in his corner.
He'll miss more than that but either way if he somehow pulls off the upset landing < 20% won't be a factor. It's how many clean punches he can land not necessarily how many in general.
