Other than slurred speech, what are some other effects of taking too many punches to the head?
Let's compile a list.
This post inspired me to create this thread.
I think Rios is actually brain damaged for real now. He seems like a 12 year old now.
When you are dealing with damage to the brain, the side effects are too numerous to mention. Gotta understand that the brain of basically the controller of the body. So just imagine...
pretty much this, anything that can go wrong will go wrong with brain damage.
I watched a youtube doc where Jerry Quarry was signing things for people at some honarary event. He couldn't remember the letters needed to sign his own name. His brother had to describe them for him, so forgetfulness is obviously one them.

Neurological, psychological and physiological damage in innumerable ways.
It's really bad, if you want some literature, look up the studies for the NFL and concussions. It pretty much can impact the entire body and brain in ways you couldn't even imagine.
Mood disorders. Loss of memory. Loss of motor skills and function. Headaches. Migraines. Loss of brain function. Etc, etc.
Both of these posts are spot on!!!
The damage done to the brain cannot be over stated and even if the effects aren't apparent now, you can bet that in the future all boxer's will experience a great deal of physical and physiological degradation.
That's why it becomes questionable at times, when you hear fans scream for the physical damage as opposed to a display of the craft at the highest level. It would seem that many are unaware of certain facts relating to the sport of boxing.
And sadly, boxing doesn't have as good an organization as the NFL\NHL\NBA etc.. One that would set up funds to help these guys when they need it most, post-career -- So, they're pretty much on their own, when it comes time to deal with the physical and financial costs, resulting from the long-term effects of being a Professional Boxer.

I agree about the Neurological, psychological, and Physiological damage. Some people I know that boxed for a living even have lost their eyesights, loss of sense of taste, and so forth. Boxing/fighting is indeed a very dangerous sport and I feel sorry for those guys that put their lives for us to be entertain and yet never really compensated for their hard works and efforts in the ring.
