Hatton: "Then came the defeat to Pacquiao. It is well-documented the issues I had in my training camp for that fight.
If I could turn back the clock I would have said, ‘Listen, I’m knackered. I need a week off.’
I’m not saying I would have beaten Pacquiao that night but I would have had a better crack of the whip.
In one of the biggest fights of your career, you don’t want to be thinking ‘what if.’
I can look back on the Mayweather fight and think I didn’t do too bad.
But with Pacquiao I will always wonder ‘what if he got me at my best?’ I think I could have beaten him in my Kostya Tszyu era – I honestly do.
Kostya was every bit as big a puncher as Manny and I was young, unbeaten and fresh. I didn’t have the miles on the clock and I could walk through walls against Kostya. I’d like to think I could have done that against Manny.
By the time I fought him I’d put a lot of miles on the clock. Of course, there is always the chance that with someone as reckless as me that I could still walk on to one of his shots."
Ricky could never have beaten the Pacquiao from the night they fought, few could.
That said, the current version of Manny against the Hatton who fought Tzsyu would be a very interesting fight in my opinion. Manny has a bit less speed and a lot less power, and that Hatton had a better chin and was just physically a lot better.
Lol nice sig but where's Alexander at now? Lol
Hatton loses 10 times out of 10...He is an offensive fighter fighting a better ,faster offensive fighter with more power and speed...fight would never go past 5
This is how I feel about it

I swear...to this day, that was the EASIEST fight for me to predict EVER....I called a BRUTAL KO but not that early....I felt like Ricky was better than getting stopped in under 6....but Pac knew better :lol1:
IMO Pac would always light Ricky up like Time Square on New Years....bad style for Ricky....southpaws earned a rep in the sport....now take one of the best lefties EVER and put him in with a hittable brawler who has NEVER beaten an elite southpaw.....you get DESTRUCTION in my book!!
Hatton tried to bum rush Pac and clinch, but Pacman was a monster back in those days when Hatton tried to clinch him Pacman pulled his arms out and continued punching him.
Hatton couldn't do anything. Hatton had a better shot of beating the Pacman of today not the one of his prime. Hatton actually looked good in his comeback fight if he never got dropped with a body shot he would have been a good ppv attraction against omeone like Bradley.
Ricky is one of my all time favourite English fighters, I even have a signed picture of his on my living room wall, as well as many others. His footwork was beautiful and was such an overwhelming come forward fight, and i think if they both would have fought at 140 when Ricky was in his prime, it would have been a great fight, but I'm not saying Ricky would have won.
It wasn't just the power. It was the speed that befuddled Hatton. Pacquiao was just an awful matchup for him no matter when the fight took place.
If Ricky was allowed to fight in the same manner in which he fought Kostya Tszyu, then he would've stood a better chance. Tszyu pretty much got mugged that night. It would've only prolonged the inevitable though.
that was a clinch-fest on par with wladimir but it worked and tsyzu didnt even complain about it afterwards, I guess he'd been in enough fights to have to deal with hometown referees before but hatton was very strong that night, charged up by the insane crowd atmosphere.. he overpowered tsyzu in the clinches.. now he might have still beaten tsyzu even if he wasn't allowed to clinch that much but maybe not - its possible the outcome would have been different on neutral ground...
lol sorry Hatton but you were always tailormade for Pacman, and miles? Pacman had more miles than you he was already knocked out and knock down several times and been in wars as a young fighter before he started using his movement when he got with Roach.
Hatton came off his best win too when he fought Pacman, he out boxed and schooled Paulie Malignaggi badly.
Here's the thing Hatton, you fought Manny a mere year and 5 months after losing your first fight to Mayweather. You outboxed Lazcano and stopped Malignaggi before facing Pacquiao. You weren't washed-up until Manny washed you up, so stop making retroactive excuses and fantasy predictions. Don't go away mad, just go away!
Hatton did not look good in the Lazcano fight. He ran straight into the same check left hook that Mayweather KO'd him with, almost fell into the turnbuckle again lol. He was quite lucky that Lazcano couldn't really follow up.
He looked good against Paulie but they rushed into the Pacquaio fight. He needed more time with Mayweather Sr. Not that it was ever really a good match in the first place.
