Couple folks who should know whisper that the Pacquiao/Bradley rematch did approx 625,000 buys. Waiting for Top Rank delivery of the numbah
Woods being a big Pac guy should lend some credence to the number.
Low numbers, but only in USA . On espn latinoamerica, they say that the fight had 26 million of people viewers in México, over the Canelo-Angulo (20 million ) and Chavez-Vera II (15 million).
A lot of people saw the fight, Also, here in Chile, the return of pacman was very comented in general, and here the sport of boxing is very irrelevant. Pacquiao is still the face of boxing, but he need more things to surpass the million ppvs in USA (better undercards, or popular contenders)
PD: how many millions of people, corresponds 1 millon ppv buys in USA ?
I know, depends of a lot of factors, but anyone knows a general aproximation in numbers?.
It's not that Pac isn't a draw anymore, because he still is, but the fact that people have been getting spoiled with good undercards from other promoter fights.
Arum needs to learn to adapt because no one is willing to pay $70+ dollars for just the main event anymore. I totally agree with this post.
The first fight wasn't good though, it is always tough to get people to really buy into a rematch of a fight that wasn't really that good in the first place, controversy or not. This is the reason why i didn't buy this card.
I think the buys were low because the perception of the Bradly loss wouldn't have changed with a rematch. Everybody knew Pac had won already. What's needed to restore Pac's luster is a KO win over Marquez and nothing else. Pac should allow Marquez get the lion's share of the purse split just to get that fight. Yes, I agree this needs to happen later in the year.
From Kevin Iole, who is usually reliable with PPV numbers.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/manny-pacquiao-remains-no--2-to-floyd-mayweather-in-yet-another-way-171503585-boxing.htmlSo maybe it sold 875k then.
Well that's better. Woods needs a better source Or who knows maybe it did do 625k.
So what we have is between 625-825 max with it possibly being under 700k..... I say we wait I'am with you man.
I don't think JMM vs PAC V will exceed 1million buys.
Ehhh, decent chance. Marquez could pique some interest coming off that 6th round KO.... but who knows

:lol1: 'Boxing fans don't care about undercard fights' - Bob Arum
Pathetic that you actually have fans standing by Arum while at the same time asking to boycott or critizising another promotional company for actually investing in quality in their cards:pat:
On the good note, Bob's scam PPVs are flopping which is a good indicator that more and more boxing fans are not willing to bend over for Bob anymore.
was a whack card, good fight, good win just wierd that people get on other boxers/promoters for stacking the card with good fights (giving the fans their moneys worth) thats the dumbest argument ive ever heard. for bob arum to say nobody cares about undercards is simply stupid.
Indeed. It's sad boxing has such a particular pathetic fan base.:nonono:
I think from here on out we're going to witness the decline of both Pacquiao and Mayweathers PPV numbers. They can't stay high for ever.
I also believe that their high numbers from previous years were because people anticipated that the next fight they'd fight each other. Now that it appears that it truly isn't going to happen, interest has waned.
So because Pacquaio lost Mayweather's numbers are going to go down?
How do you figure? You think that people bought the Canelo fight and made it the second most selling PPV ever because they thought Mayweather and Pacquaio were going to fight?
No, people bought that fight because they thought Canelo had a legitimate chance at beating Floyd. Remember it was almost an even split in terms of boxing pundits predicting who would win. A lot of people thought Canelo would be too big and active for Floyd which ultimately turned out to not be the case but that's besides the point.
The point is that as long as Mayweather is undefeated and has a legitimate threat in front of him he will continue to do huge numbers. His numbers will fluctuate as the caliber of his opponent will dictate how big the event can be but he will still top the ppv charts even with lesser quality opponents.
Remember, he didn't do MEGA #'s with Guerrero but his PPV buys for that fight were enough to make most PPVs after it seem very modest.

I don't think mayweather will do much higher for maidana.
I predict mayweather will struggle to top 750k.
I think you're very wrong. Mayweather/Maidana will do 1m buys.
Edit: Remember Broner was the top trending topic on Twitter when Maidana beat him.
Maidana got good exposure after beating Broner. Enough to help push the ppv buys over 1m in my opinion.
i'll wait for more official numbers rather than a tweet by some random..don't care if he's a pac fan..if he's not actually in the KNOW than it's just a rumor to me...
either way pac beat the #3 p4p fighter in the world....that matters more in the end than ppv numbers.....
just like i predicted......lol@anyone who thought this would do over a million. the card was crap and even though the main event turned out to be a good fight, the first fight was **** and casuals remember stuff like that.
This.
People want to see Pacquiao in with someone fresh.
lol, what Mayweather fight? It's not actually happening, that's why all this talk of numbers is pointless.
The fight might still happen if Pacquiao is smart enough not to renew his contract with Arum. So numbers are still relevant.
Not to mention that certain posters like to say that Mayweather-Guerrero was a "flop." These figures should put their comments into proper perspective.
While I think these are very solid numbers, pac fans are trembling because according to them this is a tremendous flop compared to floyd/ghost.
Honestly though if Floyd/Ghost fight was really a flop this must be devastating considering no casual fans even know Guerrero, while Bradley was #3 p4p and has to have a bigger fan base then Guerrero at this point.
They just love digging the hole lol.
Seriously though 600k is a solid PPV, this shouldn't even be a big deal.
Bob was projecting 1.2 million. How could he be so far off?
The purse split for a Mayweather fight should now be 70-30 in Floyd's favor.
lol, what Mayweather fight? It's not actually happening, that's why all this talk of numbers is pointless. It's like 50 said, $100m on the table and he just left it there..walked away.
Are we to suppose he's going to make the fight now? Of course not, and that's why boxing fans arguing about numbers is meaningless.
