This was a huge fight a few years ago, but now the luster is off with gamboa being MIA from the top level and Juanma getting blown out by salido twice and mikey.
But with gamboa in need of a big fight, and Juanma coming off the ponce ko, I think nows the time to finally make this fight.. It would be a guarantee shoot out between 2 hard hitting chinny fighters...
At 130 I think this would be a great PPv undercard fight or regular hbo main event from puerto rico
Thoughts?
Yeah but would u guys watch is the real question.. I agree that it's pretty pointless, but at this stage in their careers, it's the biggest possible fight that could actually get made for either guy..
I'd certainly watch. But this match-up now has a pro wrestling feel to it. :lol1:

I would watch that ghost Gamboa fight anyone. But I hear what your saying, Gamboa-Lopez still has a little bit of spice.

Nope, not a good fight anymore. Rusty Gamboa would still beat the brakes off of juanma. I believe it would end quicker than the garcia figh for juanma.
Gamboa-Lopez should have been made a long, long time ago but good ol' Bob Arum let it stew for just a little too long. I was truly upset when I came to the realisation that Arum wasn't going to make this fight. It's the fight that made me realise Bob Arum is a cancer on this sport.
Gamboa would have knocked Lopez out then and now, only now he does it within 2 rounds.
It's a nothing fight at this point.
