The biggest problem is the lack of alternatives. If Pac and JMM could be matched with Thurman, Danny, Porter, Matthysse etc. then you'd obviously want to see those fights instead. But they can't fight those guys. The options are limited, and the reality is it would probably be a great fight compared to whatever else can be put together.
If we only have a few more Pac fights I'd rather see him fight some of the younger guys or Mayweather of course. I'd rather not see him fight Alvarado either. Either way it will be disappointing.
Simple question. Do you want to see Pacquiao/JMM 5?
No. Though I suspect I'll get it anyway.
I'm already on record saying that if this fight happens I think Pac wins, and I think that he'll probably get a KO/TKO between 5-10th round. That's more about thinking that JMM is in the non-linear decline part of his career, and covering well, as opposed to thinking Pac will be filled with rage and avenge his KO. I really think JMM was in full life or death mode when he met Pac last time, he looked horrible against Bradley, and he should be taking Alverado deadly seriously at this point.
It's an absolutely pointless fight. The rivalry is done. Nothing more for either side to do. They should fight other opponents, rather than endlessly recycling the same fight.
On balance, yes.
1. It would probably be a great spectacle
2. It's significant in legacy terms for both fighters
3. The alternatives for either fighter aren't better
If they could both seek matches with the guys in the GBP stable, I would probably say no. But as things stand, I say yes.
