It's unlikely. The punch that has worked most effectively against Martinez is the straight right hand. Left hooks rarely land against Martinez. That's one of the things Cotto's got going against him in this fight. He doesn't have a good right hand.
Nope, when Cotto wins its because Sergio is "past prime" even though he's only lost 1 fight in the past 14 years.
You dont think he's past prime? :|.. Dude can barely walk.
Against Sergio's reach, footwork and quickness?
Good ****ing luck lol. No seriously, Cotto needs a miracle to win this fight.

Enjoy the fight homie
i'm not sure how much enjoyment i'd get out of watching poor cotto die trying to win a MW championship :lol1:
on a serious note, i'd take a long break from boxing. cotto was one of my guys when i was growing up.
this fight is really a question of how much sergio's legs have left. i don't know the answer. i know they're a fraction of what they used to be.
if sergio can't move all night, cotto will time the left hook and the jab. he timed floyd mayweather, he can do it with martinez when he's in range. if martinez has the legs to land from the outside and stay out of range, he will beat cotto. think austin trout.
All I know is Cotto is going to become the very first Puerto Rican World Champion with 4 World Titles or he's going to DIE TRYING.. :439:
PRPP:boxing:

Not exactly true he is not very easy to hit,he has good head movement and has/had nice footwork. He has a huge reach advantage and the power and speed advantage...This will most likely be an ugly night for Cotto

Everytime I read about this fight people make it seem like Martinez is some kind of freaking defnsive whiz. Martinez is one of the easiest guys to hit in boxing, he'll be there for Cotto to land all night.

Could Sergio counter it also?
What does Cotto need to do to get inside Sergio's jab?
A nice swift kick to the groin, no J/k..
A nice solid left hook to that surgically repaired right knee..
PRPP

Bob and weave son, bob and weave behind his jab. Double up on the jab on the way in. The basics!
That's how Cotto gets inside to tee off with his big punches (left hook included.)
