I can across this video earlier. It's one I'd never seen before and it was quite eye-opening to me in regards to HBO's shameful and blatantly biased coverage of the Antonio Margarito handwrap scandal.
It was taken just before the rematch with Miguel Cotto:
Max Kellerman is a complete doofus. Talking about the supposed "tear" in Margarito's handwraps after the Cotto fight which was unequivocally proven to be nothing more than black thread.
Jim Lampley is an utterly shameless Cotto dick-suck who has been close to tears every time Cotto has lost and even when he won. Who could ever forget him getting butthurt when Emmanuel Steward suggested that Clottey was winning against Cotto?
Speaking of Steward (RIP and everything), he comes across worst in this video. I remember Frank Maloney describing him as a "mercenary whore" and that is pretty accurate. The guy was a complete sycophant. Notice how he talks about how the manner of Margarito's win over Cotto is very plausible and legitimate but then he raises his voice to say "I believe he DID use loaded wraps" based on nothing and just to suck up the the pro-Puerto Rican crowd.
The kicker for me is right at the end where one guy was making salient points and asking legitimate questions regarding the first Margarito-Cotto fight. Lampley tries his best to shut him up. Then Steward acts like he's going to answer but completely changes the subject to the Mosley fight to try to rouse the crowd into drowning out the guy. He also ignores the fact that he trained Kermit Cintron to face Margarito twice and would have watched Margarito getting his hands wrapped himself.
Steward himself did an interview with Thomas Hauser where he said he could quite easily make an illegal pad and insert it into a fighter's wraps without them knowing. I guess he forgot about that as soon as he was given an HBO microphone.
HBO agenda in full flow.
When you are caught attempting to cheat, it's implied you have done it before. In Margarito's case, I think there's no doubt he was using illegal wraps for years, probably his entire career. I think his whole record should be wiped.

This is the piece of gauze that everyone is talking about.
Is it illegal to use? Yes.
Is it a block of plaster? No.
Make of it what you will.
Lovely stain

And therein lies the problem with him. He has a tendency to present OPINION, rather than just present facts. He writes opinion based editorials, and falsely presents them as news articles. There are a variety of relatively unknown authors from BoxingScene that run circles around that guy when it comes to journalistic integrity.
Maybe read the article before trying so desperately to discredit the writer.
Cotto fans are delusional as hell....I dont even like Margarito....but I knew he would beat Cotto, styles make fights...The commission found an old pad of gauze(illegal wraps ,yes, but the trial never found it to be any more than that).....for the MOSLEY fight.....yet you barely see horrified Mosley fans thinking "that piece of **** tried to murder Shane!!", Its the Cotto fans who can't get over the fact that no one has any proof about Margarito using them against Cotto.
He's not presenting his opinion, he's presenting facts.

In my opinion, Hauser is not a credible journalist and is as biased as they come. He makes Dan Rafael look incredible.

What is more concrete that a plaster like insert falling out of a handwrap...when said hand wrap is already on a fighter? What more do you need? That's not conjecture. That's being caught red handed.
I don't believe I've ever denied that Margarito's handwraps that were confiscated before the Mosley fight were illegal. Not once have I questioned that.
Well it's not a mystery because there were no "blocks". You need to do more research on what was actually found. Read Thomas Hauser's article instead of believing the hype.
"Protected behind the scenes"....LOL
There's no fact in any of the accusations against Margarito either. Merely conjecture. It works both ways.

It's a mystery. But keep in mind, these folks already showed incompetence by not catching the flaw themselves. And instead, Naziim caught it. And if the wraps truly only had TRACES, then it would be unlikely that Naziim could 'feel' it. Naziim would've just been acting on whims (which he had not done before).
For the Commission to finally KNOW that Naziim was correct, the wraps had to contain MORE than just traces. Margarito was just being protected behind the scenes in my opinion.

It's because he's an ignorant c-unt. His only defense is what if scenarios with no basis in truth or fact or evidence.

LMAO I just took a peek at the thread and Dirk Diggler UK getting owned badly in his own thread.
It seems like everytime I see him in this forum he is getting owned constantly lol. :lol1: :lol1:

Why were these "blocks" or "bricks" not presented as evidence in the case against Team Margarito I wonder...

Boxing is corrupt though. So you never know.
First thing Naziim said was that he noticed right away that the wrap was very hard. And he told Commission immediately, like this is hard. And they replied that it's not, they checked, it's ok. And Naziim insisted NO. Then lo and behold, a block of sh*t drops. :)
I'll take my chances and believe NAZIIM, the guy who discovered the problem for a FACT, than Team Margarito and the Commission (who weren't even competent enough to catch it in the first place).

Well said. Second fight was exactly the same as first. Cotto just won coz of Tony's fvcked up eye. It's a shame they didn't let Tony continue coz Cotto was already gassed by the 9th round.
Nazim is a LIAR. I remember watching a video of him saying the huge BLOCK fell out of the wrap. Where is this huge block? The only thing brought as evidence was a gauze which contained some trace elements, what a load of bs.

He was hurt to the body on a couple of occasions, he sat on the rope, Margarito folded him in half. Also busted his nose in that round.
Of course he got touched more in the 2nd half of the fight because he started slowing down and couldn't implement a box-and-move gameplan for 12 rounds, especially when he was taking shots repeatedly throughout. It works for Mayweather because he doesn't take punches. That will never work for a fighter with as poor a defence as Cotto.
The clinching and the pushing Margarito back in the rematch was something he should have tried in the first fight. It would have broke Tony's rhythm and gave Miguel time to rest. It's obviously something he picked up from Mosley's fight with Margarito.
No doubt.
That's the exact reason I picked Mosley to win.
He's a specialist at hitting and tieing up, that's always going to be an issue for Margarito.

You owned yourself on that radio show. Asking a bunch of other guys what they'd do if a women tied them up to a bed and then 3 big black gay men popped out of a cupboard.
Awkward :ugh:
