To everyone biatchin about Chavez been the bigger man, what's the problem??!!
He's only missed weight once I believe....
So stfu. If he can make the weight then maybe other fighters should do the same.
It's like when ppl ***** about Pac been smaller and too fast for his bigger 'weight drained' opponent. Get real. The boxers are men, they agreed to any catchweight at their own risk. The knew the terms, the deal with it.
Earlier I said......
I'm a Martinez and GGG fan more than a Chavez fan but he IS a good fighter.
I rather enjoyed watching him getting on his bicycle in the last round of the Vera fight - to me it proves that it's easier to have an outside stlye and run, much harder to cut of the ring so effectively like he does.
I mean lets face it guys anyone can fight like Ward or Hopkins or Rigo if they dedicate themselves to that, but who wants to be a fan of a pu$$y?
Chavez good fighter, haters and boxing fans who mistake his easy attitude for skill don't know **** about boxing honestly.
If he could hang with Martinez while smoking up during training imagine what he is really capable of...
He shouldn't be singled out, all those guys benefitted from well at least in the short term, they took advantage just as he does. His success has mostly been from fighting sub par opposition. I don't blame fighters for taking advantage I blame the rules that allow them.
I think Chavez Jr gets a lot of schtick for fighting supposed sub-par opponents but he has a terrific run at middleweight, including wins over Lee, Rubio and Zbik, all of whom were highly touted at the time.
He didn't always have the best performances and looked taxed at times but he won and then he faced the best middleweight of his generation and was battered for 11 rounds yet still fought like a mad dog in the 12th. That's a good resume, any fighter would be proud of.
The thing is that every time that JR appears to be turning the page, and skeptics might be ready to hop on board..he f*Cks it up.Then people are able to point to the nepotism they believe got him this far in the first place.
Even that 12th round against Vera II turned the crowd in an instant.
I am a fan of his, but it has been hard to attempt to argue against any of the points. diuretics, weigh stipulations, DUI in training camp, training at home in between blunt sessions. Look at all that baggage
it seems like more people are starting to respect him in the ring, but he still has a ways to go to convince the majority. Lately he's been shedding fans, not gaining them
i know for a fact some boxers use furosemide(lasics) to loose water weight.
That may be the case, but the reason they are banned in athletics are because of there use as a masking agent not because they help you lose weight.
I didn't say they didn't help you lose water weight, but they can and do mask other agents which is why they are banned.

you talk sh1t about pacquiao being done and washed up because he outboxed rios and won every round but you say other guys are the greatest for doing what pacman did better
When have i ever praised anyone for beating a guy who was 1-1 in a division below and never fought in a division another fighter dominated them at?? Rios was not a great fighter period in any division
Anyone can fight like Hopkins Ward or Rigo??? and they are pu22ies????? wow, just wow

No one has got the criticism Chavez has got, people were going on about Martinez facing a cruiserweight but really there was about 10 pounds between them on fight night.chavez was round 180-190..martinez is always between 165-170
Once?
Mayweather came in overweight once too, takes painkillers, a history of other fighters have bent the rules much worse than Chavez for taking a laxative.
Floyd has never i repeat never missed the divisional weight limit..What Chavez did in the 1st Vera fight was disgusting, not to mention he was caught using dietetics and also weed
Fight night weight is always discussed.
Canelo has been criticized for the Lopez fight. But he also fought Trout and Angulo. Both weighed as much or more than Canelo.
Only fight even close to Jr's weight was Andy Lee.

Other than Margarito, I wouldn't say anyone there relied on their size the way Chavez has. If Chavez can make the weight, I don't have a problem, but I'm also not going to ignore that it's the main reason for his success.

It's funny how no one cares about weight on fight night when its Pac (lighter weights), Mikey Garcia, Cotto (140, 147), Margarito, Canelo, Trout, Angulo etc but when its Chavez its some huge thing.

He was caught using diuretics, they're banned not because they help you lose weight (as they're also banned in athletics) but because they are used as a masking agents for steroids and other PEDS.
Bingo bango.....
He also got busted using illegal weight loss drugs.

When a fighter routinely weighs 25-30 pounds over the weight limit and relies on that size to win fights against mediocre competition, they aren't proving to be a good fighter.
If Chavez can be a top fighter at 168 or 175, I'll change my mind. Considering almost everyone think he lost a fight with a journeyman MW and had his hands full in a rematch against that same MW, I expect him to get slaughtered if he ever fights one of the best SMWs. I expect Golovkin to crush him and will be disappointed if he doesn't.
He also got busted using illegal weight loss drugs.
