Oh he knew, along with anyone with Balco
I don't agree. I think he genuinely thought he was paying several thousand dollars a month for vitamins. Secret vitamins that he wasn't supposed to tell anyone about.
Well his "the clear" was undetectable at the time. So he probably was in his "Prime" in those PED career stage.This........
And whoever says he aint no what he was taking is delusional, choir boys doesn't simply bump drug dealers that is peddling the latest products. He was involved with Balco, not taking just any roids but undetectable ones, that shows a supreme level of cheating, a level of cheating that Mosley was well conscious
Shane didn't know they were steroids, just like Mickey Bey didn't notice when he had 30 times the normal level of testosterone in his body. Who would?

Super quick and explosive feet and hands. You hit him once he would throw 3 in retaliation. Real pleasure to watch. Gutsy dude, one of my favs of all times. Prime Shane would have stopped Floyd after he hurt him. Great finisher when he had guys hurt. His greatest weakness was the lack of a thudding jab, his offense was his defense imo.
I concur. I would also add that he had a rock solid chin!

So top 5? Ha.
On the real tho, I loved the dude. One of the first fighters I watched when I came to the states.

Lies..............
Firstly SHane in those days had superhuman size power and speed, he actually looked like a MW at 135, contrary to these days where he floats from 147-154 and looks like he should of had a career at 140 all sickly and frail. Looking back at early Shane it's evident he was roiding
As far to how good Shane was in 2000, who did Shane fight pre OScar but trash can after trash can and people wonder why Shane has been a underaciever and average fighter at the highest levels, bottom line is Shane is simply a dude that only beat Oscar the once and thats because OScar thought he could over power the little guy.....
so jmm gets torched for his recent supposed used of steroids.......
and not one mention of shane getting caught using them in his prime?
NSB logic man.

Mosley, especially a prime Mosley had an insane balance of speed, power and durability, that kind of balance is rare to come by.
You can thank Victor Conte the Balco man for that
The title is self-explanatory, in the year 2000 how good was Shane Mosely?
Not to good if he had to resort to cheating by using steroids. He used steroids in my opinion cause he lack confidence to compete with the Welter Weights

I remember Mosley as a beast of a fighter in 2000. He loved to pull the trigger and would never hesitate to initiate the attack, counter, move, slip, fake, the works.
He had a hell of a leaping left hook, a killer straight right and, like Pac, unreal footwork. Matter of fact, it's the lack of footwork and his reluctance to pull the trigger that really betrayed Shane as he aged (at least from my perspective).
He had a classic bout with Oscar back in 2000. Took a couple of hard losses from Forrest and then there was the Winky debacles. All in all, he was one of this era's greats, a man with a true champion's heart who would never back down from a challenge, even when he was outgunned. Shane really did, at his peak, have a heart for combat.
good stuff SAA.. i allways was under the impression shane shouldve went to 140 after beating oscar the 1st time, i dont think any world beater was at 140. he couldve been champ at 140 easily and would be a feather in his cap to be a 4 division champ
Prime Kosta tszyu was at 140 and so was prime Judah,,,
I don't think mosely could make 140 after going to 147.. Without really draining himself.. Shane was a bulky guy
Shane moved up from lightweight to welter in 99.. He totally skipped 140.. He had a few fights at welter and established himself as a contender for a welter title, fought oscar in the summer of 00 and won a great fight over oscar.. He was seen as the first guy to clearly beat oscar... At that point he was considered top 5 p4p with many people having him top 3 or 1..
His lightweight reign was dominant but never fought another high caliber fighter at the weight..
His welter reign didn't have much success, 2 or 3 lackluster defenses and then a big fight with Forrest in which mosely was dropped and thourghly beaten by Forrest.. Shane performed better in rematch but still lost a wide decision

mosley in 2000 i believe was what, welter? i forget what year he moved up to fight DLH. he was a lightweight champ for a year or two then moved all the way up to 147 to fight oscar. shane will always be a really good HOF, not an ATG.
mosley is my 2nd all time favorite behind of course the pacman
