What about Stevenson proving he's the best against a far more establish foe in B-Hop..It's not like that fight will not be on the table..Kov can fight Pascal(I hope)and should he win that he also can make the decision to go to Showtime,or maybe even Stevenson comes back to HBO..You can not knock Stevenson for going after a legend.. I'm all for business when it makes sense,which a lot of moves do at times..A lot of fans have school kids mentality's about this sport..Which is not kind to you when you get old..Have to get the legacy and most money possible while you can..That's the reality of this sport.. Stevenson isn't chasing a Hopkins fight to prove he's the best, he thinks he's going to take advantage of a 50 year old fighter for more money. I can absolutely knock someone with that mindset, because in the process Stevenson is walking away from a fight his people apparently agreed to that has just as much interest.

Since when do fans care more about a fighter not fighting the best as long as they are making money? That's not our job, we don't get a cut of that. If we all supported fighters taking the lowest risk for the highest rewards, we'd never get any of the fights we want. I mean, boxing is still a sport, isn't it? A completely corrupt and ridiculous sport, but still a sport. If the fans start supporting business over the desire to see the best fights, what incentive is there for promoters to continue letting boxing be a sport when they could just sell us mismatches under the guise of business? If Stevenson and Kovalev are #1 and #2 then they could just knock every one else off and be the last two standing. Then you have your #1 and #2 being the money fight.

real life boxing fans don't pull that crap they talk about fights that happen and speculate on non fights but they don't obsess over contracts and PPV revenue no fan is receiving a piece of that money so they don't care you only see that nonsense online when it's agenda convenient you'd think some posters here are married to the fighter they like most

Did Kovalev really get screwed? His manager said he got an HBO deal which she felt was more important than a world title. When are fans going to see what is going on. Every time a fight the fans and the network supposedly want doesn't happen-the networks rewards the fighters who are not fighting those fights with big purses for inferior fights. WHy hasn't the network decided not to air those fighters? Networks identify a fight then instead of putting it on get and extra 2 or 4 dates by doing two setup fights for each guy. HBO, instead of punishing Stevenson for not fighting KKK gave them both an extra fight because they needed dates filled on their calendar. They just got out flanked by Haymon and showtime on this. The networks get us to watch inferior fights so long as we believe the best fight is on the horizon. well if we fall for that once why should we be surprised we keep doing it? I hate it when people ignore the reality of economics in life and act like fighters owe it to fans who wouldn't raise a finger to help them to do whatever will excite them most as if they were free from the worries about lifelong financial stability. I don't like boxing fans that act like financial advisers, defend the duck, and scream atg of duckers. But I also don't like fans that call every boxer that doesn't produce ko's on a regular boring simply because another fighter has a more exciting style. For example, the absolute schooling Rigo gave to his son Donaire was probably one of thee most fantastic lessons I've seen in boxing. I honestly don't consider that particular fight boring. In fact I thought it was amazing.

When in the history of the sport has any boxer leaned towards glory? Do you even know what you are saying. The problem is young fans like you have a misguided notion that fighters are supposed to work for less so you can get entertained. If you truly cared about the sport you would care about the well being of those involved in it. I laugh every time I see Dunn attempting this kind of condescencion. I mean, its funny because he is a floyd mayweather fan. A guy who 90% of his fanbase are still teenagers and the other 10% just plain stupid. That's why boxing should be viewed differently now and fans need to make adjustments. Fights now are more like exhibition matches that focus on making the star fighter look good. It's no longer about the best fighting the best. I doubt fans will ever see their dream fights in their lifetimes. When star fighter loses, he's back fighting cab drivers. And fans would be lucky to see fighters fight three times a year. That's so much BS, let's not let the actions of Floyd Mayweather, ***** boy, dictate the whole of boxing. Just in recent years we've had Garcia/Matthysse, Rigo/Donaire, Wlad/Povetkin (like it or not it was no. 1 v 2), Wlad/Haye, Pacquiao/Cotto/Marquez/Oscar, Floyd/Mosley, Trout/Lara, Bradley/Pacquiao/Marquez, Rios/Alavardo, these were all important fights, to varying degrees and a lot of them were FOTY candidates. There are still top fights being made, I haven't even listed the British scene yet, what with Froch/Groves/Ward/Kessler

Like I've mentioned, fans nowadays need to make some adjustments when watching boxing. It takes years and years to see proven fighters fight each other. It's getting more and more expensive to produce such fights. They all want to get huge paycheck, then go on long vacations. So just expect to see exhibition matches between proven fighter vs low level fighters. For one, they're easier and cheaper to make. The thrill for fans is in seeing the "star" get beat or brutalized by bums.

Those fans "The Mayweather Nuthugging Mafia" like and want Mayweather to be the only one making money. When a "good business decision" comes from someone else(mostly being a non black boxer/person), they criticize them till no end. Not all Mayweather fans, a very small portion are good boxing fans.
