In a fantasy matchup, if Andre Ward was a 147 lber....would he
1. Unanimous decision him
2. Stop Paquiao like he did Dawson
3. Lose to Pacquiao
Pacquiao is one of my favorite fighter but Ward at 147 may be too much for him, but what do you guys think
Just watched Ward vs Froch. Ward fought like an amateur and telegraphing his punches miles away. He is good in inside if he manages to hold on you but Pac will fire his combo first and get away before he can do his thing.
As a Pacquiao fan I have to admit that Ward would tool him.
He can fight inside, he can fight outside, he can counterpunch, and his defensive abilities are top notch. There's a reason why he won a gold medal and why he hasn't lost since he was 12 years old.
Every time someone starts going on about Pacman. They recycle the same line of speed and power, lol. If Ward and Pacman weighted the same Ward would school the living $#it out him. He'd beat him on the inside and pick him apart from the outside. He'd turn Pacman and keep him off balance and make him pay every single time he flurried. Roach would probably stop the damn massacre.-
Couldn't see it any other way

Pac is a small 147 fighter compares to the other naturally bigger 147 fighters. If all physical things are in equal Pac speed and angle of punching will give Ward a hell. Stylistic Pacquiao is all wrong for Ward. Ward posses to no threats like Marquez superior counterpuching skills. Pac fought almost all boxing styles in his entire boxing career and mostly gave them a one sided beating. Ward will be no different and will get Hattoned easier.

Ward supposedly is retarded strong according to practically every fighter hes fought... Pac stronger at 147 than Ward? >__>.... Thats how you know this thread is going to contain 99% rubbish. I dont think anyone has accused Pac of be physically powerfull since... morales??
I'm not sure who I like in this fight. On one hand Pac cant seem to cope vs real skills and Ward hasnt fought anyone as athletically gifted as him imo. Ward would appear to be a bad matchup for Pac. Ward not slow and dumb enough. Based off how much I respect Pac Ill give him the benefit of the doubt in a 50/50 (but if I was a betting man I'd put money on Ward).
Lets look at all things being relative. Ward is a very big 168, Pac is not a very big 147..that means Ward would have a size advtange if they were in the same class. Ward is stupidly faster than practically everyone in his division and while not being a huge ouncher, he can pop if he sits down on his ounches (reminds me of a significantly better version of Devon in that sense). Pac can crack at the lower weights but is more of an acumulation type dude now but still, power advantage to Pac, speed about even (seeing as Pac isnt the fastest in his own division). Probably be similar to Bradley vs Pac in terms of speed. Pac throwing multiple punches faster but ward able to get off just as quick with his leads and single punches
Ward would of course have a physical strength advantage when it comes to the clinch not only as the bigger man but seems to be naturally strong.
Who has the faster feet? Pac could probably run faster but Ward could probably leap further. So I'd say Pac's feet when moving would be considerably faster but Ward would likely have a faster first step/leap.
Skill wise Ward APPEARS to be more skilled but theres no way to know. So yeah i love Pac so its hard for me seeing him losing this BUT the realist in me tells me he's just stylistically in a bad matchup. It's practically impossible to throw that much vs Ward unless you want some brutal leaping headbuts and suffocating clinches..
Pacquiao speed and footwork too much for ward. ward usually has most of the advantages going into fights. He might get caught with a big shot if he tries to clinch with pacquiao .
Ward's Chin is not that good but his defense keeps him out of trouble and he is faster and more clever than the fighters he has faced. He has never faced a fighter with the speed, skill, stamina and power of Pacquiao. Pacquiao has a variety of hard punches that come in at all angels and he throws them in quick, accurate combinations. He should be able to KO Ward sooner or later in the fight and he still wins on points if he doesn't get the KO.
Ward can adapt....not being funny here but has Manny ever had to adapt in a fight.
PAC's style is not easy to solve.
It takes a very intelligent boxer to beat him and someone who has speed to counter speed.
JMM has the blueprint to at least give PAC trouble. Counterpunch skills with speed and power. Pot shot counterpunching won't work either. Must throw some combinations. (PAC-Morales 1 as well) And Manny has to respect the power. If not, he'll walk right through it.
In PAC-Bradley 1, PAC didn't respect Bradley's punching power so it was easy work.
No one p4p can beat Manny (especially prime Manny) except JMM and Mayweather.
147 version of Pacquiao is significantly stronger and harder hitting than a 147 version of Ward. Overwhelming factor IMHO. Pacquiao UD/MD.
Even a supermiddle weight version of Pacquiao would easily clean out the division and higher. His style, speed, and ferocity will be trouble even to current heavyweights. Pac is true p4p.
Bradley is the closest counterpart to Ward at this weight, with better defense.
You would get a very competitive fight if Ward was a WW, but i dont see a blowout either way
Ward adapts to any style out there and with his skill and if he were a welterweight he would clear out the division but unfortunately he's not.
This right here..Lets be real, Tim Bradley is the FIRST elite level boxer in or close to their prime that Manny has faced in years so I can't see how anyone thinks Manny would steamroll Ward, who has made everybody he's faced, elite or not, look average..

So based on many people's opinion that Pac beats Ward if they both weighed 147, shouldn't he be higher than Ward in most P4P Lists? Wasn't this the main purpose of the list?
