He's been handed a shot at the title, clearly.
He's not fought anyone in the top 15, yet now gets a shot at the most coveted title in all of sports?
Regardless of who you think deserves a shot or not. The final fight for belt won't be a easy fight he will be fight the best of the contenders. So we can get off his back about not fighting credible opponents, one is coming down the line. If he wins he was meant to be there if he looses then he wasn't. So nothing is handed to him. Just like soccer tounements your team may have easy group/route to the final, and better teams may get knocked out befor your team does, but ultimaly in the semi's or the final your team gets mullered.
Where was this announced? I haven't seen it.

Yes, it's unofficially official ;)
He needs to fight our Tyson or our A.J.
That's what I've been saying! :lol1:

the brits obviously hate him because he's american and a threat.
Brits don't hate him, he has just been handed everything. His best win is Scott and he deserves a title shot you have got to be kidding me. Money has really f*cked up the sport I love. Such a shame where you can fight 31 terrible fighters and be in line for a HW title.

I am British and I have to say that I would put Wilder on even par with someone like Tyson Fury or Derek Chisorsa.
I don't think he is the same class as David Haye, but he is better than Audley Harrison or David Price.
It's a padded division full of over-hyped fighters trying to get a payday.
In terms of pure excitement I actually quite enjoy watching Wilder, you never know what might happen.
He might be on par with them,
but he's had many more fights than them and only in his last fight before Scott fought Firtha! That's pretty miserable for a guy with 30 fights - I don't care how many amateur fights he's had.
The likes of Joe Frazier and Larry Holmes had similar amateur backgrounds but were right in the mix a lot sooner than Wilder and fought way way better opposition at that stage, so I don't think there's any excuses.
Chisora has already fought the likes of Haye, Helenius, Klitschko, Scott, Johnson, Fury etc. and Fury has fought Cunningham, Johnson, Chisora etc.
So Wilder might be the goods, but his resume certainly doesn't back it up. He's still to fight a live opponent.

but haye was champion of the world when he fought harrison, wilder as just a prospect taking his first steps to becoming a contender.
its really irrelevant which is worse though, they were both horrible match ups that everyone knew would end with harrison on the floor, which is always the case when he is in with a decent fighter. lets just hope he doesnt get chisora like he wants.
Yup completely agree-
WTF are you talking about?
Im not planning on defending the Harrison fight, but Harrison was EBU champ at the time and came off his career best win. When Wilder fought him, Price had just knocked him out of his senses in 80 seconds.

It's funny that your from the UK because David Haye made a title defense of an actual heavyweight alphabet belt against one of those "terrible fighters".

He absolutely sucks, he is a hilarious knockout waiting to happen.
