I think canelo power is questional. He could not floor angulo I no angulo is tuff but kirkland put him down so that makes me wonder who would win a toe to toe battle canelo vs kirland my money is on kirkand as long as wolf is in his corner what do you think?
But if Kirkland did have a decent chin, he wouldn't have gone down 3 times against Ishida, who has a 27.78% KO ratio! http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=boxer&human_id=24450 Wolfe's being there or not can't affect whether he has a good chin or not. Let's not forget, Kirkland has rarely had his chin tested, and when he has, he's gone down.
I know Ishida is a rather weak puncher but I think having Wolfe in the corner is vital. He has arguably one of the most intense regimens there are. If you saw how he looked at the Ishida fight, he looked nothing like the Kirkland we know. Having someone in the corner obviously won't make your chin better, but the hell he gets put through in training helps him overcome that. Like I said, if his chin was so bad, he never would've gotten up from that straight right from Angulo. Going down doesn't always mean you have a bad chin. Look at someone like Marquez. Been knocked down numerous times but recovers amazingly well. Maybe I'm overlooking it but I don't think Canelo would have an easy time at all. Kirkland is no Angulo, for better or worse.
I think people are underestimating Kirkland. The Ishida fight was obviously a set back but guaranteed, if he had Wolfe in his corner, that fight would have been the complete opposite of what happened. If he didn't have a decent chin, he never would have gotten up and did to Angulo what he did, especially within the first round. Angulo may have punched himself out but there's no denying that Kirkland landed some monstrous body shots that significantly effected Angulo. Not saying Kirkland would win, but if he can get inside on Canelo, he has a good shot as his shots are much shorter and crisper with much more power behind them. Kirkland also has a very good uppercut which I think would have good success.

How in the world would Kirkland be a tune up fight?
He beat Angulo wayyy before Canelo and he only has one loss. He actually has a better resume at 154 than Canelo himself.
If Canelo beats Kirkland great, but this is in no way, shape, size or form a tune-up fight
Kirkland really has two losses.
But I agree, I don't see Kirkland as a tune-up fight for Canelo.

Your English is "questional" too.
Read a book.

Alvarez has already been to the mountain top. Kirkland has not even come close. I guess after looking at Kirkland's resume, and recalling how Ishida Ko'd him in the first round, I just don't hold him in that high a regard. And no way has Kirkland faced the big names that Alvarez has. Considering all of this and the fact that Canelo would destroy him, it's a step down, tune-up fight.

So wait, Canelo fights a championship bout against Mayweather and loses. He then fights what should have been a tough tune-up fight against Angulo but wins easily. Why should he fight another tune-up bout against the likes of Kirkland? Sounds like another step down to me. It's time Canelo resumes the climb up the ladder.
Kirkland to me doesn't have the chin to withstand Canelo's combination punching. I think Angulo getting dropped was a process of him punching himself out and getting broken down.
This is a very good and accurate post. Well put.

So what! ANGULO blew his load in the first round and never recovered and Kirk got him. Angulo has a terrific chin.
He had landed several serious shots and it was going to happen had the fight not been stopped.
It must be noted that Angulo has a granite chin and putting him down is no easy feat.

It might not be lights out knockout power but the way Angulo's head was snapping back they had to be hurting him. If the fight continued I think Canelo would have put him down maybe not out but down.
well lara knocked down trout and made angulo quit with a single straight left...but no one talks about lara being a monster puncher...
truth is canelo was hitting angulo FLUSH for 10 rounds straight but could never come close to knocking down angulo....hell he couldn't even knock down a smaller and past prime mosley whereas a 150lb pac was able to do it in one punch...
kirkland is the biggest puncher at 154.....he may not have the best chin but there is no doubt he is the much stronger puncher...better stoppage %...and stopped a prime angulo in 6 rounds...
That's why I said Canelo has above average power and isn't necessarily a ko artist. He has more than enough to hurt elite fighters, specially a guy like Kirklad who hasn't shown the best chin. He couldn't knock down Angulo or Mosley but both of those guys have strong chins and have only been down once each.
And no Lara made Angulo quit after landing numerous left hands that was an accumulation of damage not a single left hand that dmanaged his eye.
Canelo will and would whip Kirkland's ass. Believe that. I would put the pink slip of my car on that.
Just like I said about Angulo.
In the words of Angel Garcia "I would cut my own head off" if Canelo lost that fight.
Only a freak punchers chance does Kirkland stand.
Canelo definatly has the skills to beat him, but he would have to change his style a lot to win that fight. I dont think its a question of can canelo beat him, its a question of would he adapt to Kirklands style.
