those numbers suggest that Canelo's money was tied into PPV upside( and Im told it did break 300,000 buys)
I would say it's in the 400k range myself. Based on the online trends there's no way it pulled less than Bradley-JMM (375k.) Bradley-JMM had 100k google searches and was second most searched in USA on the day, while Canelo-Angulo had 200k searches and came first.
Espionanza has said on twitter 225k would bank 6 million and still be a success. He also said 1 ppv buy = 6-8 people so if it's 400k buys then max 3.2 million watching.
So 100k searches for Bradley-JMM for 375k buys and 200k searchs for Canelo-Angulo for 350k buys. Perhaps the extra 100k searches were for Canelo streams.
They said well over 350k
well ... over
speaka the Engrish?

Roy Tito - 500K!
Still surprised by that..
That was a fun performance, that one and the Lacy one was past prime Roy's last two fun fights to watch as a Roy fan. I know you went to the Lacy one.
make a thread about sandwiches and thread Larry will tell you Floyd had a sandwich on tuesday
How many fighters have eaten tuna sandwiches every Tuesday?
He's not down to 300k. Steve only said he heard it was above 300k. Only reason he set the mark at 300k is because Canelo gets paid more if the PPV buys are more than 300k. He's basically just pointing out that Canelo will get more money.
And what drop off? Canelo hasn't had a PPV exclusively to himself before. We're not going to pretend those 2.2 million buys were all for Canelo are we?
All the Floyd haters are.
Not bad, considering it shouldn't have been PPV to begin with. Delahoya did these types of numbers as a youngster.
De La Hoya fought much better competition as a youngster. Also, you can't compare 300,000 PPV buys from 10 to 15 years ago to 300,000 PPV buys today. With all the changes in technology, 300,000 PPV buys from 10-15 years ago would be the equivalent of 600,000 today and vice versa.
Thats decent especially after the performance he gave well what Mayweather made him give last year. I dont know anyone who said they were excited for to watch that fight, let alone casuals would actually pay to buy canelo
its def rounded UP

I would argue that it barely makes 300,000, if it even does that well.
Most sensible people predicted 300-400k buys, so 300k+ is just about right. Nothing to see here, 300k is a success, the whole card was better suited for Showtime Championship Boxing, to be aired on TV, not PPV. So milking 300k out of that is huge.

All did around 320-380k PPVs. Canelo-Angulo doing 300k is fair.
This simply can not be true,he just did 2.2 with Floyd and was on floyds undercards that did huge..according to posters here he is the reason for those huge numbers..so this has to be a typo
Dunn, that's a great number for Canelo, especially fighting a guy like Angulo. Even with the bs effort on Perro's part, Canelo seemed to reignite his fanbase. Unlike Chavez, who kept going on a downward spiral after his fight with Martinez.
If it surpasses the numbers that the number 2 & 3 WWs did last year then you gotta look at this as a huge win for Canelo, IMO.
Yeah, with no good supporting card and a bad B side it would say a lot about Canelo's draw. Now imagine what he can do against say Martinez or Cotto with a strong undercard. If this did 400k then I could see Canelo vs Cotto doing 1 million.
HHS661 I'm not saying its a bad number at all. I just think he and GBP expected a little more. Frankly, he is already a bigger name than tim and JMM.
Yes, he did renergize his base.
Croz-the point about the undercard and angulo is fair.
I just thought Canelo would bring in around 500k given the large number for floyd v canelo.

Well we know that Floyd alone will pull 800k because that's what he did in the Ghost fight. Canelo pulled 1.4m in the Floyd fight :lol1:.
Here is something that to me its crazy...Where do you get your numbers from, what kind of insight you have to suggest any numbers...I mean it takes quite a bit of calculating to come with an estimate and you say it like your research was made inside...Theres no way to know, not yet...I swear people here think they are accountants, fighters, analysts experts...Hasnt anybody noticed how like in 6 months everybody says the B side and A side word?..I been following boxing, practiced for a while, heard the b side here and there but since ward said it people say it ,in my opinion,to make them sound "more smarter"...Canelo did poor numbers,I am mexican and most of my friends are as well, none of them knew canelo was fighting, and they all are casual fans...Truth is we will never know real numbers since there is no way network will say it was a failure...
You don't even bother reading the post then act like you know what you're talking about. I quoted Steve Kim who has his own sources then pointed out that the online trends were higher than JMM vs Bradley. There's usually a very strong correlation between PPV numbers and online trends. Truth is, you don't know what you're talking about, not you're mad and going into denile because you have no leg to fall on. Same nonsense starts up after every PPV. If the event bombed it wouldn't have been the most googled thing in the USA.
1 million? Idk if it'll do that much at this point but I can see it being on the 750-875k range with Cotto. Not so much Sergio.
I was going on the fact that Cotto's max buy rate seems to be 600k largely from the PR fan base, so if Canelo can get 400k from the Mexican fan base fighting a guy like Angulo the two separate fan bases are likely to go all in for a fight on this scale, with a good supporting card too.
