So I started training legit today after being disabled for around 5 years. I did hang around/train causally in a gym when I was 13 but anything I learned there is long gone.
I was wondering how some of you felt when you first started.
When we were jumping rope I couldn't go 1 min without the things hitting my feet. I've never done this before and there was no instruction. It was a bit embarrassing since it was only happening to me. The other thing was working the mitts. For some reason I kept getting my hands mixed up when he called them out. He'd say right, left, hook, and I'd throw a left first without thinking. I know how to throw a punch and do combinations but felt it was a bit strange there was no instruction. Since it was a group session I guess that was understandable but I expected a few pointers. I know a thing or two about boxing (jab, hook, cross) but I kind of wonder how someone who knows very little and just wanders in for fitness might handle it.
I trained in PAL when I was a kid and till this day it was the hardest work out ever ...never understood what people meant by they wanting to throw up but I wanted really bad but didn't .......then a week later I sparred and it was a war ......
It was really confusing to me at first. I didn't know how to throw punches, my feet were all over the place, it was just so confusing. I was terrified first time sparring.
i was like hey this isnt bad, until the first time I sparred...first hit got my nose bloodied...soldiered on and finished the 3 rounds...we did pro rounds 30 sec breaks....uggh.
I was a natural because I literally grew up in the gym cause my pops is a coach but the first time I sparred I got the brakes beat off me which mad me wonder what did I get myself into!
I went to a gym once and did one of there like hour class sessions. Wasn't even a hardcore gym, more a fitness gym IMO. I ended up throwing up by 45 minutes. Finished the workout though so I was pretty proud of myself. Ended up messing up my hand and it never healed right so I never went back.
I felt great because I wanted to learn badly. I was always fast, but I had no defense at first and gradually became more of a slick fighter. There is a training section by the way, find it.
Yeah sorry but this place is a tad more active. Can be long enough waiting for a reply here too though. Was also looking for more varies replies from members with experience.

I thought I was going to die. I had two spots on my front side that hurt. And two spots that hurt in the same location but in my back. After catching oxygen I realized it was my lungs haha. And it was tough to keep my hands up for an extended time due to the weight of my hands and gloves. But you get used to it! Just keep going at it!
