just as i thought the size difference is big. u have to respect cotto for taking this risk and i hope he doesnt get badly hurt or anything but damn its going to be a long night for him
King Cotto got this and he senses Martinez fear. Cotto will walking him down, beat him and take his belt.
Sergio will be crying in Argentina.
If Cotto handles him well, Sergio will be singing...

Martinez isn't strong physically? LOL
He's finesse
You failed to mention the beating Chavez Jr took for 11 rounds. I don't think for one second Cotto could have took half of the shots that Jr took. If Margarito hit him, Martinez will most definitely.
Ive already explained, cotto isnt half the retard that chavez is. His defense is better, his offense is more crisp, his footwork is better, his timing is better, etc. Its apples to oranges, and bringing chavez up does nothing to discredit cottos chance.
Lol. Cottos game plan in the second fight was nothing like the first fight. Cotto spent virtually no time on the ropes in the second fight, and in the first he was on the ropes virtually the entire fight. He kept the fight in the center of the ring, kept pivoting/turning margarito, changing angles, tieing up margarito, pushing margarito back, etc.
Its a night and day difference between the two fights. Perhaps you are the one who needs to revisit?
The difference in the second fight, and I know you won't admit this, is that Marg was shot. His eye was done, he was done. Shortly after he retired.
If by shot you mean wasnt allowed to use plaster, and cotto had a better gameplan, then sure, Agreed.
Oh I dont disagree that martinez has punching power. Big difference tho in punching power, and being physical, moreover being strong in physicality.
Martinez isn't strong physically? LOL
When the big boy let his hands go, yeah, martinez got caught a good one. And i was referring to cotto being more skilled than chavez, theres no comparison. Chavez follows a guy around the ring like a lost puppy, while cotto will cut the ring off. Etc.

I dont see this as being a valid example, and possibly is an example on the contrary. Their first fight cotto didn't game plan to work inside. He was too full of himself in his skills and power.
Second fight tho cotto did game plan to get physical with martinez, working on the inside, turning him, workkng angles, etc.
Sorry to break this to you, but you should watch the fights over again. Cotto did nothing different in the second fight. As a matter of fact, in the first fight Cotto win the first 7 rounds outside a good shot Marg hit him with in the 6th.

You are on.
Yet he's bigger than Cotto. Also, because he's slick, doesn't mean he isn't physical. He can punch with the best of them.

Yet he almost knocked out Martinez..lol Your saying Martinez is 100 X more skilled than Jr, so that agrees with me then.

Cotto has T-Rex arms, and he's moving up to a weight class where his power will be limited and effective in spurts, so it's safe to say if Martinez is at just 70%, he'll crush Cotto.
Martinez is a small middleweight. Hell, margarito/clottey/many other cotto opponents have walked out to the ring weighing more than martinez does. And most importantly, he's a finesse guy. A small middleweight who isnt physical whatsoever.....is too physical for one of the more physical fighters of this gen? Yeah okay.....

Lol at bringing up the retard chavez. He didn't cut the ring off, didn't get physical, and refused to let his hands go.
Not to mention the whole problem of cotto being 100 times more skilled than chavez.

When has he not been able to do it when he wanted to?
Margarito
10 tril?
You are on.
3 inches taller and two weight classes bigger isn't an issue? What world do you live in?

In boxing that's a huge advantage. Cotto can try and bully Martinez, but if you think he can do that when a 180lb Chavez Jr couldn't for 11 rounds and a half, good luck.

Size will play a big part, more than strategy. Cotto always wants to get inside and force himself on fighters, the question is can he do it against a very slick and much bigger opponent like Martinez.
When has he not been able to do it when he wanted to?
I say no and if Martinez is anything like he was, Cotto is getting put to sleep.
10 tril?
The only thing thats noticeably bigger is Sergio's arms/shoulders. He's a tad taller, but besides that, everything else is a push, with cotto probably having the edge in lower body.
But really, all I'm saying is the size advantage isnt anything drastic, nothing that cotto can't overcome. More than anything, this fight will be decided by how/what game plan cotto comes into the fight with. He he tries to be a cute boxer from the outside, he's gonna get picked apart probably. If he is an aggressive bull, working inside/getting physical with martinez, then cotto has a great chance to pull it off.
Cottos a strong mofo, and Sergio is a finesse guy. If anything, advantage cotto with the leverage. But yeah, nothing cotto hasn't faced size wise.

lol, he looks two weight classes bigger than Cotto. Look at his arms, legs and chest. He's 3 inches taller than him and remember that Cotto is a small 154.
Martinez is much bigger and that will cause problems for Cotto, believe that.

What 2 fights ?! Martinez put an epic show in his fight against cruiserweight Chavez Jr., he beats him again in a rematch anytime, there is a huge gap in skills here !
Yes, Martinez lost his fight against Murray, even without the 2nd K.D for Murray, but it is not because Martinez getting old over night, or Chavez Jr. ruined him ! it is because the huge pressure of Argentina crowd and finally getting the recognition for the first time after decade of fighting abroad + rain and slippery canvas + Murray is a very good boxer indeed
It is not an achievement to K.D Martinez, the man is getting KDed in every single fight d2 his style of boxing and fighting with oversized monsters for years !
I see Martinez today exactly the same as pre-chavez fight, the aging should affect him, but it will be minimal, specially on legs movement speed
he still has the granite chin and hands speed
Cotto case is 100 % different, he is a small guy who is going to feel a different level of cumulative punching power, he is going to retire on stool, he is not a crazy Mexican type of a fighter, he will not risk his health and future, he is smart, believe me, it is going to be a bad mismatch, very bad !
Martinez beats Canelo, Trout, Mayweather, Lara, .... and all these 154 guys
I'm not disagreeing with you but he almost got KO'd by Chavez Jr, lost to Murray and for a while there struggled with Macklin.
I think Martinez wins, but fighters can look old and let's also remember that he's coming off of 2 knee surgeries.
The only reason I think it might be competitive is because Martinez is 39 years old. He looked bad in his last 2 fights, but those were against guys as big or bigger than him.
I just feel if Martinez is anywhere close to form, with his advantage of size and speed, Cotto is in trouble. If he comes in looking like he did though, it could be competitive.

I can't believe there is one fan in the world who would favor Cotto, except for PR loyal fans !
Cotto is a retired man who boxes for money, Cotto loses badly even against Canelo, Martinez may kill him !
Cotto should have retired, even before Mayweather fight, he has no business in the ring !
I gives Martinez Zero credit for K.O Cotto, it is a good tune-up fight, nothing more, I don't feel any hyped for this mismatch, I am just happy to see Martinez back to the ring !

Not really, just *slightly* bigger than cotto. Nothing that cotto can't handle.

Sergio is used to brawling with much bigger guys than himself. He's bigger, stronger and outboxes Cotto. Unless his injuries are very bad, Martinez beat Cotto. if Serio is 70% recovered, he's not only winning, but putting a beating on Cotto.
No, Sergio is used to being a slick boxer against bigger guys. Big difference between being a slick boxer, and getting physical with somebody. He is bigger than cotto, but when was the last time cotto fought somebody that wasnt bigger than him. He's no stranger to somebody having a height, weight and reach advantage. Cotto gets on the inside, gets physical, and does work.
And I'm not so sure martinez is stronger than cotto. But in any case, I like how you are setting the stage of excuses for martinez.
