At least based on online trends they do.
Bradley vs JMM wound up with 100k google searches translating to 375k.
Canelo vs Angulo came number 1 in the US with 200k searches. Based on that I can see this breaking 400k PPV buys.
I hope the show was successful, but on the other hand, the better it does, the more certain I am that they will put canelo on PPv regardless if it's a big fight or not
The arena was also PACKED. The atmosphere was crazy as well. I happily purchased the PPV, then again I buy all boxing PPVs. $60 is nothing for entertainment, at least for me personally. There is nothing more exciting than a PPV event with the pre fight buildup, the weigh in and finally getting to see the first bell.
I hope it does good but if it doesn't, who cares really? At the end of the day I was very entertained and got my money's worth and that's all I care about.
Completely agree, the main event was full of energy, great crowd.
Same here. I always buy PPVs, as I'm always the fight party host.the whole family comes over and that's really all that matters...Toe To Toe was a decent card!
Nice post, Huey! The experience / memories are far more valuable than the price tag. I get to be with the family and it's a fun and safe activity. We are usually talking about the fights for days after they happen. Life is short and spending money on things you enjoy is money well spent. And we only get about 3-4 PPVs a year.
Anyhow, hope you're doing good man. Wish you a good week!
Any where above 350k buys should be considered a success. The problem is that more than likely other than Kirkland there are not much contenders that would ****e a PPV interest.
Bring on Triple G, since its good enough for Floyd it should be good enough for Canelo

Na he actually waits a full week.
The official numbers yes, but not to guesstimate when he knows he has a hit he starts throwing numbers right away and pat himself in the back asap.
Schaefer would have already came spewing numbers and guesstimates at everyone if it was a big hit. Not the first rodeo.

Caught it in the theater, was packed.
Theater I went to was empty.
I don't think it had anything to do with the card though, the theater I guess is known to be always empty for everything. I asked some old timer who was there if he goes there for the fights regularly.
He said yes.
I asked him if it was packed for Canelo vs. Mayweather.
He said it was about the same.
I counted about 22 heads.
lol, 250k expectation for somebody part of a 2million + ppv? People are really lowering their expectations so that they aren't disappointed
Mayweather did 2.5million with DLH, and in his very next PPV, months later, only sold 900k with a very strong and popular B-side in Ricky Hatton. That's a drop of 1.6million PPV buys.
Angulo is not a strong B-side at all, 300-400k would be fair. Many people didn't like this match up, and probably several million people streamed it. If we're talking about Canelo-Martinez/Cotto, then we could expect high numbers like 800k-1mill+.
I bet you this fight was watched by 50-100millon people in Mexico.
I predicted 300-400k, which would be excellent numbers because of who the B-side is, and the lack of a strong undercard(it was decent, not bad but not strong).
For reference, fights with good B-sides like Cotto-Mosley did 355k, Cotto-Margarito I did 450k, Cotto-Mayorga/Judah did 250k, Mayweather-Gatti/Judah did 350k, May-Baldo did 320k, Pac vs Morales Trilogy did 350k each, Pac-MAB did 350k, Pac-Marquez II did 400k, Pac-Diaz did 250k.
So Canelo-Angulo doing 300-400k with just a 23 year old Canelo would be great numbers, on pace with the current Top 3 attractions when they first started(May, Pac, Cotto).
Considering most people were saying they'd be lucky to get 250k buys it would be very good.
The card only deserves 250k buys though. Seeing as there's no other draw on the card aside from Canelo this is a great measuring stick for his draw power.
