I was wondering if promoters release contract/fight information, at least to the press, once a fight is announced. Obviously, what happened today with Canelo-Angulo doesn't sit well with many people. However, it is not uncommon for non-title fights to be 1-2 lbs. over the fighters usual weight class. I would be happy if promoters can release information such as weight, ring size, glove size, glove type, number of rounds, etc. So, what's the deal?

Why would they "release" info that you can observe with you own eyes?
