Guillermo Rigondeux is easily the most sound fighter in the game today.
Mayweather, and Ward are also scientist in the ring, as well as Gamboa; but Gamboa aint been doing nothing.
Who do you think is the best technically sound fighter today?
mayweather is the most technically sound fighter in the game today imo. nobody has perfected their style to the degree rigondeaux has, the techniques he uses are the cleanest in the sport today. however he doesnt apply as wide an array of skills as floyd does. floyd is technically sound in every aspect of the game and can fight in any style, that gives him an edge over rigondeaux in my mind despite the fact that rigondeauxs main style is the most pure thing in boxing.
ohh and gamboa? is that even serious? dude is just an athlete, his skills are less than average. lara, marquez, hopkins, m. garcia etc are some real top technicians. how do you think hopkins is still winning fights at 50? he isnt really an alien you know, in fact he has been physically declining since his mid 30s. but he is smart and skilled enough to find ways around that.
Everytime donaire would catch rigo, rigo would fire back instantly and be aggressive. Even if he only knows how to fight one way I believe he would still get a UD over anyone in his division since the start of time. Although floyd has been through many weight classes its hard to say which is his best because at 147 he'd have a hard time with a lot of the fighters of the past.
Rigondeaux's chin gets way too much stick.
He got caught off balance Corboda and touched down, he wasn't hurt.
Marroquinn hit him with a flush left hook as he was showboating and he stayed upright, Marroquinn was like 137 and is a puncher.
Sure Donaire dropped him coming out the clinch but wasn't he supposed to be done the second Donaire hit him? Whilst he did get schooled, Donaire landed some monster shots on Rigo and he didn't blink.
Nothing wrong with his chin. Donaire has wiped out many 'granite chinned fighters' with that same shot. Not once did he hold, he ate them and immediately responded with a big counter.
Many a time when I held my breath during those exchanges. It's as if Rigo wanted to make a point...and he did. He took any and everything Nonito had and fired right back. I was proud of him for that. Once Guille bagged he first five rounds or so, he changed gears and the lesson switched to boxing 102. I had my concerns about Rigo's beard leading up to the fight. Not any more.

this the same guy that was made to wobble twice vs marroquin, knockeddown vs donaire and knocked down with a jab vs cardoba?
same guy?
No one said he had a chin.
Your hate doesn't descredit his skill at all.
I can name several instances where Floyd and Ward were hit flush as well. They just have better beards.

Possible, but I'm not sold on it. Floyd's defense has held up against a variety of styles; so far Rigo has fought only one world class opponent that showed up to win.
As for Ward, I'm not a big fan, but he is the complete package: he has speed, size, physical strength, a solid chin and very good all around technique. If I had to name the fighter I think is the least likely to lose in the next 2-3 years, I would pick him.
Yh I don't see Gamboa as that technically sound. His speed masques a lot of flaws
Gamboa belongs to the other side of the boxing spectrum, where the likes of Pacquiao and Khan resides.
They are the athletically gifted fighters, who gets by, and in some cases excels, by relying on their natural talent (i.e. speed, power, heart, etc.).
:lol1: @ Gamboa being technically sound.
Rigondeaux is very good at what he does, but he's also very one dimensional, which is why he's such an absolute bore to watch. One paced, virtually no variety in his offence and needs the right opponent just to have a watchable bout.
Guillermo Rigondeux is brilliant,I don't see him being beaten and it is a real pity that Arum does not get behind him like he does Lomanchenko.I rate him right up there close to Mayweather but he may well be a more complete fighter and certainly has better footwork.
I knew he was going to beat Donaire and really deserves more support after that performance. The guy is the real deal and is obviously very special.
Gamboa doesn't belong in that list in my opinion.
And what Ward does, I wouldn't consider scientific/technical.
Smart yes, but technical no... It is borderline street fighting, far from what Rigo and Floyd employs.
Rigo vs Floyd would be a toss up, I'd go with Floyd since he is more proven across multiple weights.
Truly one of the greatest athletes I've seen perform in any sport. Shame that he doesn't have 25-32 fights by now. Damn Cuba for not letting their athletes go pro
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is undoubtedly the best all around fighter today but I think Rigo is the most technically sound fighter currently. Andre Ward is great as well but I'm not a fan of his spoiling/clinching/dirty tactics which sometime overshadow his brilliance in the ring IMO.
Rigondeaux would outbox every style doesn't duck any style even if some might think its boring. I think he would be able to win a boring UD over anyone in his weight class since the start of time. He is 33 and is probably past prime but I still don't see anyone beating him.
