The WW is hot and he can get in the mix big time with a good win. Especially having a good following from the UK that would make any big name attracted to fight him.
Yet on 03/15/14 he is scheduled to fight Alvaro Robles and continues to chase Khan. Instead of Brooks going foward he is going backwards just nesting his undefeated record waiting for the phone to ring with a major offer.
Nope. Because he's a new champion. So he has until April 20th to fight someone. Because on that day he will receive a letter from the IBF telling him to initiate negotiations with Brook.
If a deal cannot be made within 30 days (or 45), it will go to purse bids.
It would be completely idiotic by Brook to fight someone good right now. That ship has sailed.
I haven't said anything about Brook's upcoming opponent. I simply said that he could wait a while longer if Porter comes to an arrangement with the IBF for a voluntary defence. What you say is true, but sanctioning bodies are known to digress from the written rule
It was either fight nobody and wait to face Porter or take a nothing fight in between.
Why can't people understand that?
That's what I've been saying. It's pretty simple logic.
Depends if Porter signs to make a voluntary defence. Then, they'd likely grant him an extension, and, should he lose, the wait for Brook continues.

He only has until April 20th to have a voluntary apparently
He gets his shot at the IBF next, so i don't blame him for taking this fight. Pretty sensible.
If more problems arrive with the IBF fight with Porter (or maybe someone else?), then Brook should just look at a different route and start getting some good names/big fights on his resume.
If the IBF abide by their own rules then if Porter doesn't fight Brook in June then he will he stripped.

You would hope that it will go that way or Brook takes another pass
There are no sure things in boxing. He at least on all this time fight somebody of note and continues his reigh of terror against lower tier opposition

He waited too long. Got those injuries with the IBF belt shot last year, then wanted to only focus on the IBF belt, pushing away anybody who isn't the IBF belt holder or Khan
I can't help but agree with the OP. Sure he's mandatory to the IBF, but there's no guarantee that fight will happen in June. Khan, or someone else, may hijack a fight with Porter, and so it rolls on again...
Brook has been on the periphery for way too long.
I've been waiting for Brooks to step if up to see if he is the real deal or not so we can have another big name at the weight to make things even more interesting.
But no, way too long just hanging back waiting for the right opportunity. Fighters that wait too long for into bad habits in the ring because they are not challenged enough
You know he's got a mandatory shot for the IBF in june right?

It all comes down to him fighting Porter. If the fight isn't made due to 'injury' or failure in negotiations things are going to spiral out of control for Brook.
