when the canelo-mayweather fight was being promoted, dela hoya justified the catchweight by saying that canelo will be faster than usual. but on fight night, this so called speed was no where to be seen. he even ran out of gas, allowing mayweather to bully him by the ropes. maybe coz canelo wasn't used to the weight.
SRL said by agreeing to mayweather's catchweight condition, that already gave him the psychological edge even before the first bell rang.

You're not the only one that noticed that, Andre Ward did too.

we all know that cutting weight has issues but he made weight and still looked ok. Floyd does that to people. your putting to much credit on the weight cut and not enough to floyd. Mikey garcia drained him to where hes throwing up and still ko'd his opponent.
Not once did you hear canelo talk about he was so weight drained. forget all these out side videos of what some one looked like. Look at the videos of canelo saying he couldnt hit floyd and theres your answer
It made all the difference in the world and anyone who disagrees is a flaming Flomosexual.
Canelo needed a wheelchair on his way to the ring on fight night.
In fact, the original offer was that Canelo would have to be 154 for the weigh in, but had to show up at 147 on fight night. But the deal didn't go through.
Fraud "I love Ellebre" Gayweather Jr. is the biggest coward who ever lived.
wow you come off as just an idiot if there ever was one
And according to mayweather (via "All Access"), Alvarez walked right into his trap.
"'I'll drop to 150 for Floyd Mayweather.' That's what you said, Canelo. We set you up! His team was a dumb team. But guess what? We're the smart ones! We build 'em up, put 'em on the undercard. Build him up, make him into something he's really not, and just beat him. He don't think I know he's been wearing that plastic. He been wearing that plastic for the last two days. He ain't eat no food in two days. I'm eating some pizza tonight."
does anyone remember canelos walk in at the MGM he looked like a skeleton.
absolutely horrible
i still dont understand why floyd asked for the CW
So he could win He'd fight Glovokin if Glovokin agreed to 147

Catchweights effect the bigger man why do you think Floyd ask for it ? I bet if you make a 10 by 10 foot Ring and let Canelo weigh what ever he wants say 160 I bet he knocks Floyd out . But put a 24 by 24 foot Ring for Floyd drain Canelo to 152 Floyd wins hands down So does this mean Floyd can beat him in a real fight No but handicap Canelo by larger ring and bring his weight to unsafe conditions and now it's in Floyd favor

rofl.........
Canelo always gasses, and with the way he fought (not using his size, bulling him around) the fight at 154 wouldn't have made a difference.
Did it affect him? I think the answer is clear that he wasn't at his best. Not saying the outcome would be different but strictly answering the question all you had to do was watch him during the weigh in. The kid was sitting down waiting for Floyd to do his ring walk. A 23 year old kid having to sit down while a 36 year old fighter is jumping around and full of energy just doesn't seem right. Again not debating the outcome, but he clearly wasn't at his best.
No, he lost to a better man. Cotto and Canelo was one pound lighter than their previous bout. Skills made the difference. The catch weight just gave Floyd and Pac haters a but.
Of Course.......
Of course it did. Canelo is a muscular fighter and already BIG Jr. Middleweight. he didn't have any fat to lose, so that means he lost muscle tissue, and that's a very dangerous thing. He has never been so skinny to where you can see his adams apple. Smh. Was he ready for the experience of Floyd? Nope. Was he drained, yes, of course. Sometimes, Floyd thinks he's smarter than what he is. The right thing to do would've been to put a rehydration clause in the contract that stated Canelo couldn't weigh more than.........fill in the blank, on fight night. This is why the win has an asterisk by it. He didn't need the catch-weight. This is how I know that Floyd is a bully and insecure fighter who isn't all that sure of himself against certain opponents. His mouth has always been bigger than his balls. It won't be any different in May or September.
