I've seen the face-off between Canelo Alvarez and Alfredo Angulo and I smell upset, if Angulo wins, especially if its a KO victory, will he make it on Mayweather's lists of future opponents.
Since i've been thinking all day what will Mayweather do after Maidana, Angulo represents the kind of fighting style and personality that fits to his liking, if we are to pick who will Mayweather fight for his last 3 (if ever) bouts.
Martinez at 160, if he beats Cotto, Maravilla too slow, hands down low, not an appealing fight for Floyd even if its for a middleweight title.
There is still hope for Amir Khan to face Floyd next, but the likelihood is Khan will join Manny Pacquiao as the other boxer Mayweather has avoided in his career, it should be noted that Bradley, Khan, Alexander and even Peterson were all ahead of May's choices Ortiz and Maidana, who beat an opponent (Broner) who was never proven at 147.
Going back to Angulo, they can sell the fight to boxing fans that he knocked Lara downed twice, and his three losses is somewhat similar to Maidana, May chooses Maidana, who lost to Khan, he can choose Angulo, who lost to Lara, probably the second-best after Floyd at 154 by now.
Mayweather vs Angulo in Cinco de Mayo next year!
I love El Perro but let's not forget that he was outboxed by Kermit fucking Cintron. Let that sink in for a minute.
That's true. I don't think he beats Mayweather but I do think its a tough matchup at Floyd's age (combined with size difference). Floyd hasn't moved constantly in a fight in a very long time. He would have to against Angulo. Floyd won't get caught with the shots that floored Lara but at least Lara could inflict major damage.
ask yourself this , does angulo hit harder than canelo? and u urself admit angulo is 1 dimensional which i agree with.. is canelo 1 dimensional?
thats why i think this fight would be 1 sided and boring. i've been proven time and time again u need more than a big punch to beat mayweather
I DEFINITELY think Angulo hits harder than Canelo, I feel strongly about this.
Canelo is definitely NOT one dimensional, he is a complete fighter in the sense that he has good movement, good speed, good IQ, good offense and good defense. He isn't particularly GREAT in any area though.
I think it would be very entertaining to watch, whenever you have a pressure fighter with heavy hands who isn't hesitant to attack (like Canelo was) and isn't afraid to take serious risks, you have a fight in your hands.
Same with Maidana.
Canelo thought he could fight as smart as Floyd and was over thinking every move, that's why Mayweather was always a step ahead. He is a chess master in the ring. And you're not going to beat Mayweather with 2-3 punch combinations unless you pack a serious punch.
Angulo packs a serious punch and caught the Lara twice, which says a LOT. Cuban fighters are as technical as they come and to have a fighter like Angulo catch him clean and be up in one card and down by just a point in the other two are a testament to his pressuring capabilities.
If Angulo beats Canelo, I think a rematch with Lara is most likely.
Angulo poses a unique threat to Mayweather though. He's a big 154 fighter and has a very aggressive style. Mayweather would have to move constantly and that may be difficult at his age. I also don't see Angulo respecting his power much.

You think Martinez is "too slow" but you want to see him in with El Perro?
However, I do think that Angulo is possibly going to beat Canelo but he'd have to rematch Lara and beat him as well to generate some extreme buzz as a Floyd opponent IMO. Although with Floyd's limited opponent selection, it could happen; Maidana just needed to beat Broner (lesser known name than Canelo) to warrant a fight so who knows.

My brother said the same thing and hey if he beats Canelo, he'd definitely deserve it. El Perro is as one dimensional as they come but what he does know how to do, he does damn well. A 154 with heavy hands will definitely pose a threat to the petite, smaller Mayweather.

i got to see him beat canelo first lol... because right now the words floyd-angulo put together make me sick to my stomach. its highly unlikely he will survive against a strong canelo
