Let's make it happen...... Great showing vs Vera.......
At 168 ??? Most likely......
Thoughts ?
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr just redeemed himself in a hard nosed, well earned victory over a determined Brian Vera.... Julio said he's ready to take the mantle as the next great Mexican Boxer to the masses.... That's a enormous aspiration !!!
GGG is taking time off to deal with his Father's passing.... Family trumps everything but God himself.....
................. A quick breakdown........
Chavez Jr.'s terrific, consistent and punishing body attack.... His iron chin is proven.... He has decent power.... He knows how it feels to go 12 rounds..... His higher quality of opponents give him the experience edge in big fights...
But stamina can become a issue.... His overall quickness and hand speed is a small disadvantage.... The thing I see is his propensity to lower his head, leaning in on the inside, it's just begging for uppercuts.... He needs to a address that before stepping in the ring with GGG....
GGG has tremendous power in both hands.... He mixes up his attack to the body and head well.... His constant pressure doesn't give opponents room to breathe.... He has a great sense of balance and distance..... Good chin....
Stamina might also be a issue, no one lasts long enough for us to find out.... He takes some risks while in pursuit.... Lacks experience vs high level opponents....
.......... Well, let the games begin !!!!!
How the fcuk does it prove that? Retarded much?
I assume it's because people have been calling him out along with Sergio actually saying hed be willing to fight him late 2014.
GGG does have options, though his team would rather keep riding his KO momentum until he lands the right fight it seems.
Chavez busted out some impressive english to call GGG out for his very next fight... Ward has called him out as well (to be fair no way if i manage/promote GGG i let him fight Ward without ever beating a top fighter...).
GGG has options but he's fixated on an aging Sergio who.. Lets face it..is smaller, older, much more wear, and coming off career threatening injuries (two in a row now).
Sergio is likely still a better fighter than the other despite this and he's the 160 king so it's understandable and quite a notch on the belt but nobody of note is ducking him...
As much as I like Lee no one is trying to watch a Jr vs Lee replay. There was likely better options. Even if hes favored to beat most these guys, there had to be a better option...
This proves that Golovkin has great fight options all along, but he preferred to take the easier fights. No one is ducking him.
How the fcuk does it prove that? Retarded much?
A fight between him and Golovkin would be good but let's face it, he would probably lose or at best get bloodied in the process. A better fight for him would be against someone like Kirkland. In San Antonio!
when jnr trains properly and is in shape he is a solid fighter he has that diamond chin and can just wear guys down.
I'd like to see him v GGG at either weight
I'd like to see the fight, and I think Jr. can punch but unfortunately I also think he is somewhat lazy and unfocused. It is surprising that a big-time boxer would show up to the main event 45 mins before he is supposed to go into the ring.
He doesn't put as many guys away as he could, if he would step on the accelerator and try to finish, when the opportunity presents itself. But I think he is a one-punch at a time kind of guy. He does have a good chin, so that what makes me interested in seeing if Golovkin could put him down and out. I think GGG's greater conditioning, commitment, pressure and power would be too much for Jr.
GGG is apparently fighting Martinez after he beats Cotto.
I would rather have this over Chavez jr but I don't see dibella letting his prize in the ring with ggg as long as Martinez is winning.
GGG is apparently fighting Martinez after he beats Cotto.
He can fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr next.... Sergio Martinez is fighting Miguel Cotto on June 7th.... Since they'd both be fighting at roughly the same time, fighting each other in their next fight should be fine......
The real question is: Does Sergio want to fight GGG after Cotto ???
Sergio has injury issues and is not getting any younger...... It would be big money for both.... I'm not going to count that chicken until the egg hatches.... That's not going to hatch until after their Summertime fights....
If Sergio chooses not to fight GGG after Cotto, and Kid Chocolate is nowhere to be found, then perhaps Andre Ward might come calling.... But that's a ton of speculation on my part....
But we're fans, that's one thing we're allowed/expected to do....
the fight would be at 168, no way Chavez goes down and now way K2 fights it.
Arum said it would be in PPV in July. Both sides want it and it's after GGG's 40 day mourning period.
It's gonna happen
feel bad for that family gonna have to bury another come july then.

Notice how I didn't say Chavez is a "1 punch devastating knockout puncher".
But yes, he can punch.
He has some power that's enhanced by his weight advantage. He doesn't actually have real power.
