:lol1: Most of my friends and family are football, basketball and baseball fans. I'm casual on these sports but hardcore on boxing.
I have to come to this site to discuss 90 percent of the boxing that takes place today. My acquaintances don't know these fighters and if you try and have a discussion or God forbid a debate....I feel like a sage talking to a child. Sometimes the "Big fights" come up and everyone starts talking about Floyd, Pac,Cotto.....uhhh I guess that's pretty much it...and again , they pretty much don't know what the hell their talking about. It's a lonely boxing fans world out there.
Does anyone else feel like this?
Are they're some lucky guys out there whose friends know all about the boxing world.?....it's just a shame to me that these warriors who stand alone and not on a team , don't get more play..smh
Most people I know IF they like boxing are only casual fans, which is fine. Three of my managers at work are die hard boxing fans. It's nice to be able to discuss boxing in real life
I am the point of contact for my friends and family when it comes to boxing. Me and my Pops talked about it a lot when he was still living in the states but since he went back to Nicaragua we still talk about but not as much. When I do talk to him the conversation quickly turns to boxing. It kind of sucks but boxingscene makes it a little better once you get passed the stupid threads that some how stay alive.
I've yet to run into anyone in my region in south jersey that talks about boxing.
It would be nice to talk to someone face to face that knows something about the sweet science. I feel like I have a vast knowledge of useless boxing information in my head and no one to share my knowledge with.
My expertise is predicting the winner and score of professional prize fights before they happen. People I do watch fights with say that I'm sick when it comes to calling who the winner of the fight is going to be. When the ring announcer reads the score off I'll say my score it's 98% of the time right on.
It's bad when you know every title holder of the RM WBC/WBA/IBF and WBO without looking at a computer screen or a piece of paper. Or when you know scouting reports and fighting tendencies the of top 20 ranked fighters in all 17 weight classes at any one time I feel like I have boxing on the brain I zone out during the day just thinking about good fights that can be made.
I guess it's something that calms me down when I see 2 fighters in a good fight punching each other in the face. the science and movement is an art that most common people don't have to patents to appreciate. Except for all you posters on this board that do talk about boxing that are hardcore fans of boxing that's why I come to this site to read your posts cuz I have no one else that knows anything about boxing talk with.

I get amusement out of this site...

**** it have a drink or 10 and enjoy the fights! :boxing:
Ha. I spent hours making a 2013 boxing highlight vid that has less than 200 views. I AM a lonely boxing nerd.
hahahaha
what's the link, I'll be generous with my time to give it a watch then :D
No, I have a few friends into boxing now, alot of them are into UFC now though. . . I don't have much time for MMA stuff, but sometimes it's good, Boxing will always be my preferred contact sport
I gotta few dudes who don't know a jab from a hook but I gotta nice number of REAL friends who are hardcore like me though...that Mosley-Mayweather thing almost cost me a friendship....that's how intense we get :lol1:
Boxing could do a better job at trying to be more Mainstream though, only fighters that are Mainstream are Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto and JMM somewhat because of his Rival with Pacquiao but the rest at least in America...NOBODY CARES!
My coworker is a big enough boxing fan, been getting my brother into it, and I have a friend who knows some names that your typical mainstream fan wouldn't, but yeah for the most part I'm alone in this cold world as a boxing fan :dead:
Yeah only one of the homies watches boxing but only big events. Luckily I have two brothers that box and are into boxing as much as I do. The rest of my family also enjoys boxing but nothing too serious, they just like the fiesta and anvience which is cool.
I am the only one I know that really follows boxing but it's kind of alright because all the people that I know come to me to find out when the "big" fights are happening. "When is Mayweather fighting again? Who is he fighting? Are you getting the fight?" Same thing with Pac.
They probably know more about MMA and the sad thing is I don't really follow MMA and I likely know more about that than they do too.
I assume it's rare to find an educated boxing fan. It's pretty much a niche sport at this point and people take football and basketball much more seriously here in the U.S. Most people only know boxers from the past that they've heard over the years and maybe Mayweather and Pacquiao of boxers who are on their way out. Boxing is a dying sport in the U.S. amongst the casual crowd. People will watch it when they get a chance, but become emotionally disconnected from the sport and the boxers as soon as the match is over.
