I'm a boxing fan, is enjoying the best fighters squaring off against one another to much to ask for ???? Every year Baseball gets their World Series, Football gets their Super Bowl and we get POLITICS !!!!
The fans want this, the fighters want this and whether HBO or Showtime realize it, they too need this.... They are professional businessmen, could they please hammer things out for the good of the Sport ???? Tolerating each other makes more money for everyone, it makes business sense.... Bury the hatchet and move on.... Don't kill the Golden Goose.... I get both HBO and Showtime and watch both cards eventually, because they air at the same time so often... I'll spring for the right PPV if I like the card....
Back in the day we could watch Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs John the Beast Mugabi and Thomas the Hitman Hearns vs Sugar Ray Leonard !!!! We never questioned IF the best would fight the best, only WHEN..... You knew your favorite boxers would get that fight everyone was asking for.... The fighters knew they would settle things in the ring.... Bring it back !!!!
We want our Champions to fight Champions.... We want top contenders fighting each other for a crack at a Championship !!!!
Or is it just me ????
All boxing fans want the war to end but it may not end and there is nothing boxing fans can do about it. I have to stay with boxing with all it's faults because it is the only sport I like. Nothing can take it's place for me. It's not all Arum's fault. Schaefer is about as friendly as a rattlesnake.
LMAO at the naive.
Business is just like boxing, it is competition. These businessman are not in this to work together, any more than two boxers get in the ring to work together. They are in it to conquer the competition. They want to knock the other out.
The problem comes when we as fans are cosigning to crap. Make promoters give good undercards or stop watching. Demand fighters to fight the best or stop buying. But we can't expect these businessmen to get along for our sake. They only care about our dollars and that is how we whip them into shape.
It's not about HBO vs Showtime, or Mayweather vs Pacquiao, it's Top Rank vs GBP. Schaefer/Haymon vs Arum.
HBO vs Showtime would not matter if GBP and TR were working together.
Weird how we had the best year in awhile even with the cold war. if ANYTHING, this makes the two companies look harder and push more talent harder.
But I see what you're getting at.
As long as we have the 2 primadonnas Mayweather and Pacquiao at the forefront nothing will be done though.
Is it really HBO or Showtime that's to blame or is it GBP???
All the above !!! Who cares who's to blame.... The promoters have a huge hand in this also.... But I'm just so frustrated knowing this is our reality..... We can only get a taste of what we want, not the whole thing despite our dollars pouring into this thing....
Sometimes I have to take break, stop dwelling on the matches I want to see.... Unless someone's contract is up, we might never see those matches.... It's like fantasy matchups from different time periods, they'll never fight.... But yet our fighters are both alive and boxing....
It's bad enough that we have to deal with some ridiculous decisions and suspect officiating, but we can't even see many of fights everyone wants to see !!!
Is it really HBO or Showtime that's to blame or is it GBP???
I think it's every-motherf**king-body. Arum, GBP, Showtime, HBO. All of them are f**king spoiled ass vindictive children.
Of course TS it would be amazing if they could end this sh*t but alas, it's not a perfect world and we got motherf**king grown ass men with millions upon millions upon even more millions who act like scorned teenage girls. And sh*t it ain't just them, it's the damn networks, too.
Gotdamn man I love this sport so much but at the same time my mind is just boggled as to how much they try to run it into the ground
