hamed was a huge draw, big power, cleaned out the 90s at 126
corrales a two weight titlist, one lineal, won the greatest fight in recent history, one if the biggest punchers of the lighter divisions and one of the best of the era at his weights.
There are many less accomplished guys. It's become a popularity contest.
Just really think about it man not on an accomplishment level but a person to person level gatti's what boxings all about I can give you a bunch of cheesy things like he's a warrior which is true or he's a true throwback fighter or some bull**** but that's not what it is at least not all of it. he's a legend in his own right and a people's champion and for as bad as he is made to to be skill wise and talent wise he managed get pretty far and to captivate people and bring spotlight to frankly a ****ty sport where heart and will don't triumph anymore only pay days and ppv numbers that wasn't gatti he was a guy who didn't give a **** about any of that he just wanted to fight win or lose he always gave it his all and reminded everybody what fighters used to be like and was loved for it. He was the meaning of a true fighter, gatti the fighter might not be hall of fame worthy but gatti the man was and that's just how I feel. Like it or not gatti's special.
I see your point but Naseem Hamed did similar things for the smaller weight classes. He paved the way for guys his size to make big paydays through his entertainment value and exciting fights. Plus, unlike Gatti, he was a dominant champion and world class fighter with skills. So I don't understand how you can say Gatti gets in but not Hamed.
Does anyone have footage of the Corrales v. Casamayor II fight?
NVM, I found it. The commentator thought Casamayor won clearly (118-111) and got robbed. I'll watch the entire fight and draw my own conclusion.

I get your point...but with what you said applies to chico...he didn't give a **** but had more talent and beat better fighters...he was like a better skilled and talented gatti...gatti came back and beat guys the likes of ruelas and Rodriquez ....Casamayor and Castillo wins for chico trump those. Chico was cut from the same clothe but simply was better and accomplished things Gatti didn't
Why would Gatti be in there and not Chico or Naz?

Gatti got in, why not Robert Guerrero? Baldomir beat Gatti, he should get in too. :boxing:
That are eligible...
My point is very few deserve a hof spot who fought the past 20 years before them...Gatti was a current example...IMO they deserve it more than McGuigan, Rodolfo Gonzalez, Ken Buchanan, graziano, Edwin Rosario, and a few others in the past
Mayweather
Casamayor
Castillo
Corrales
For me
Mayweather beat 2/3
Castillo...beat casamayor and corrales, held Mayweather to a disputed Dec
Corrales...beat casamayor at their best, beat Castillo, and freitas
Casamayor...beat Diego once prime and once past it after the Castillo fights, lost to freitas(disputed) and corrales at their best
This is the problem: now Gatti is in you can make a case for just about everyone.

Hamed and corrales were just as exciting as gatti were more accomplished, better resumes, and just plain better fighters....Hamed was the best his his era at 126 and corrales is no lower than number 3 in his era at 130 and 135....no fight gatti won compared to the level drama, skills and stakes of corrales vs Castillo one....corrales would have tore gatti a new arse hole if they fought at their best definitely a tko
Mayweather
Casamayor
Castillo
Corrales
Why would Gatti be in there and not Chico or Naz?
On the basis of his career achievements and ability, Gatti shouldn't have been able to make the cut by a country mile, but he did take part in 4 fights of the year (1997, 1998, 2002, and 2003) and was involved in fights with some well known stars like Mayweather and DLH. I wouldn't have let him in if it was up to me but I like to think that was their rationale.
No max shouldn't get in and yes gatti belongs there and no Chico shouldn't be either but he has more if a right then naz

Guys who will get in
Cotto
Paulie
Sergio
And bradley.
Mark my words
Pauli,,, hell no
Cotto, serg and Bradley are all getting in,,
I would also add
Ward
Froch
Prince to me is a lock,,, he was the man at feather in the 90s
Corrales didn't have great skills but he made enough memories to get in,, he is very borderline
I would vote for both
