floyd is is own boss in the sense that nobody can force his hand and say "do this or you are through". but he doesnt make his own deals, he has people negotiating for him one of whom is al haymon. haymon arguably does this better than anyone and while floyd can certainly make big bucks on his own as well, haymon can maximize his profits and make him even more money. haymon is simply a great contact to have, just because you are a powerful presence in the business doesnt mean it wont benefit you to add another powerful man to your team. floyd doesnt need him at this stage, but he is still better of with him.
