I would train maidana for plan A and plan A only and go balls to the wall as soon as the bell rings.
after round 3 and 4th starts, its game over.
once floyd adapts and adjusts, night night.
Balls to the wall ... same as he did for broner. Maidana has about two rounds before floyd has him figured out and cruises towards a UD. If he he doesn't at least hurt him by then he's done.
you just said what I said but changed the rounds from 4 to 2... wtf.

haha thats a good idea.
I would love it if they do all the build up and everything leading up to the fight, then the weigh in etc. Standard procedure. Then on fight night pacquiao walks out into the ring instead of maidana.

he will obviously have to pressure him, thats a no brainer. key is to do it behind the jab, punch in combinations and use a lot of variety. i see people writing "overhand right over and over" and the likes, thats the worst gameplan ever. you will never have success doing one thing against floyd, you have to mix it up.
jabs, straight rights, looping rights, left hooks, uppercuts and lots of feints and up and down work. once floyd figures you out its over, so you cant be predictable. you have to keep thinking, im not saying he should try to out think floyd because nobody can do that. he needs to beat him with brute force, but he needs to apply brute force with intelligence and variety. for him to just go in there and use mindless aggression is ridiculous.
as for specific moves that jab to the body followed by a lead left hook to the head could be effective, i think it would be a good idea to beat up floyds lead shoulder too. not with right hands, he spent a lifetime rolling right hands with his shoulder. throw jabs and left hooks to the inside of the shoulder, involuntarily squaring him up and then shoot a fast straight right hand to the gut. feinting right hands, then stepping across floyds shoulder when he looks to roll and throw a short left hook/uppercut to the same area could be effective too. lots of bodywork in general but always in combinations and of feints and angles.
it will obviously be important for him to come out fast and maintain that pace the entire fight as well.
The best chance of getting at Mayweather is early on, before he figures you out and adjusts.
I think Maidana should take a similar approach to the Broner fight and jump on Floyd straight away. Throw the kitchen sink at him, and hope to land something like Mosley did in round 2.
I honestly don't think Maidana has the tools for any other type of approach.
In order too beat floyd you have you have too box for 3 ounds, brawl for 3 rounds, make floyd the aggressor for 3 rounds, and go for broke the last 3 rounds.
most people dont understand floyd is at the top of the game because he has the ability to adjust during a fight. so the opponent must adjust as well everytime floyd does. unfortunately maidana isnt the fighter too do it. floyd will stop maidana in 10

That's what he took in between rounds during the Broner fight. :omfg:
rabbit punches and low blows all fight until you get dq'd. everyone will remember the name maidana if you do that. no one will remember the slow bum that floyd cherry picked if you lose a decision.
stiff, long lefts, hook off those lefts, set floyd up for the overhand right hand against the ropes, he loves to slide out to his left
the most important factors are pressure and level changing which will let him land his punches, esspecially his jab, dive low, come up tall and with a long jab, gets floyd everytime, also negates his pull counter and puts him off balance, combo should follow
The jab, swarm him with elusive aggression with head movement. Every punch you slip throw 4 and 5 punches after. Feints and aim mostly at the body, fight dirty in the clinches, cut the ringoff an use head control to hammer away at the lower part of the body. (Never at the shoulder or head)
Most the technical advice I would think of isn't going to work because Maidana's just too slow for Floyd.
Maidana's best chance obviously is landing a hurting punch, and his best chance to land a hurting punch is by muscling Mayweather to the ropes. He's going to have to throw hard and often. He should make sure to wing those hard shots to the body when Mayweather is on the ropes. Hit whatever he can and make them hurt.
I would have Maidana in the best shape possible and would not let Maidana follow Mayweather to the ropes. Make Mayweather use his old legs for the whole fight. I would train Maidana to star slow and increasingly work the body. Forget the head til the last two rounds.
