let's look at donaire:
winner of world championship belts in 4 weight division. beat darchinyan in spectacular fashion (112 lbs). odds were 7-1. donaire won a belt at 115 and defended it a couple of times. he ko'ed montiel at 118, the first one to ever do it. won against vasquez, jr. at 122. he's currently gunning for a title at 126 this may against WBA featherweight "super" champion vetyeka.
as for marquez:
world champion in 4 different weight division. lost his first title (126 lbs) but eventually won it from medina, a guy who won the 126 belt an unbelieveble 4 separate times. marquez defended the belt 8 times (if you count the chris john fight as a win for marquez). he also won won against a faded barrera at 130. marquez ko'ed the very rugged casamayor at 135. he also won a belt at 140 but fought only once in the division. and oh yeah, he beat pacquiao.
it's kinda hard to choose.
your thoughts?
Fixed it for ya bro :fing02:
oh c'mon. i did defend the cris john fight. other than the pacquiao win, is there anything brilliant about marquez's fights
Barrera win getting slept on. MAB looked sharp in that fight.
One fight afterward he improved on his 'prime' effort against Manny.
Put that together with the wins over Manny (3 imo) and you got yourself a clear winner.
Marquez has a lot of close decisions against him, and only one shellacking (Mayweather) in a much longer career. IIRC he has fought more rounds than BHop.
Skillset is a landslide for Marquez. So is best wins and performance. I dont see anything in Donaires favour at all.

Marquez has better wins and more depth. Donaire is a hall of famer to me without question. But outside of Darchinyan, Montiel and I guess Nishioka its thin compared to other fighters I consider ATGs.
Someone would have to make a hell of a case to convince me of Donaire over Marquez. I don't see it at all.
It's not as insane a comparison as the posters here are making it to be. Donaire has taken a lot of crap for the Rigo loss and his unimpressive showing in the Darch rematch, but he did beat ten current/former/future world titlist. It's the Pacquiao KO that tips the scale in Marquez's favor for me.
I think Marquez has a better resume. Maybe Donaire will catch up but Marquez has fought the best around for many years with very few loses and some of those loses were bad decisions.
